We campervan, caravan and motorhomers need to be on a war footing!!

There have been a spate of motorhome and caravan thefts reported during the current lockdown that should be a worry for us all. We all spend hard earned money on our ‘pride and joy’ make them as secure as possible by adding gps trackers, wheel clamps, steering wheel locks, clutch and brake locks, immobilisers and a whole gamut of other devices only for some worthless scum to steal them from us!! Many of them are recovered trashed and some sadly are never recovered!!

I understand that if a thief specifically wishes to take your vehicle you need to make it as difficult as possible for him to do so. Motorhome security equipment is not cheap and there is often a confusion as to which is best value for money and safety!!

Yes, we all have insurance that pays in the event of theft, but premiums will forever increase as insurance companies recover their losses from theft payouts. Also, if we can prevent a theft in the first instance, we do not have the face the havoc caused by having our ‘pride and joy’ stolen.

CAN WE UNITE AND FACE THESE WORTHLESS SCUM THIEVES WITH IMPROVED SECURITY MEASURES??

My request is for those unfortunate campervan, motorhome and caravan owners who have had their vehicle stolen to assist the community when they announce on Facebook the loss of their vehicle:

a. To request the community for assistance in locating their vehicle with a photo of the vehicle, parked location, number plate, date and time that vehicle was stolen, and

b, MORE IMPORTANTLY, to advise what security measures taken by yourselves (security types and make) have the thieves rendered useless on this occasion.

My hope is that other owners who use the same individual (or collective pieces) of equipment (security types and make) to secure their own vehicles can reassess their measures to prevent the theft of their vehicle!!

Also, suppliers of solid, reliable and trusted security equipment will see their revenues increase enabling them to further enhance their equipment for the benefit of these groups of users. Conversely, security equipment suppliers whose equipment frequently fails to protect will see their revenues fall and to survive will be required to ‘up their game’ in this arena.

Ultimately, the listing of ‘non secure’ equipment will assist us all (newcomers and old timers) to review our security measures and replace with effective anti theft equipment.

Let us commit to preventing more campervan, caravan and motorhome thefts.

TOGETHER, COLLECTIVELY WE CAN FIGHT CAMPERVAN, CARAVAN AND MOTORHOME THEFT

Ken S Hacking has been in touch with me and he has a link already established highlighting vehicles that he’s aware of having been stolen and recovered during 2020. Its excruciating to see how many, with very few recoveries.

A) You will find most of this information on the page than Ken S Hacking runs which I'll link to below.

B) He has repeatedly asked for this type of information and didn't get far, you will see in the last column on the database about security, don't think that Ken has ever received any information to put anything in that box 😲
