Caught this earlier on my phone. Can anyone tell me what the name of it is?
It was sunning itself on a privet hedge and is quite large, wingspan approx 8cm. Its in Spain if that's relevant !

Keep in mind that Swallowtails do vary quite a lot regionally even within their sub groups. This often causes confusion as the insect seen can vary vs the generic images we compare it to, the Wiki link vs the book image is a great example. I used to take lots of pictures of various butterflies and moths and share them with my FiL who was an avid keeper and breeder of both moths and butterflies and he too was sometimes confused. Comma butterflies in the UK are a great example of this.

Tis a stunning "butty" though as No4 daughter used to called them
