I will be on the ferry on 28th to Santander, heading for the elephant aire. I look forward to hearing what you think of it, as I have never done it either. Heading for Spain this time, including Christmas in Benidorm

Once you reach Spain, I'd recommend the Ternera Seleccion brand entrecote steaks from Lidl. Superbly tender at around €4 each, I reckon they knock any French equivalent into a cocked hat!

You sound like one of those northerners who would put gravy on chips.

Another lazy day set off 11:30 and such a nice sunny day stopped early just after 4pm. Found another cracking little free Aire at Dax. Timing was perfect only 2 of the 9 spaces free, withing a few minutes of arriving two other vans drove in one had to leave all the spaces between the trees nowhere to fit extra vans in.
Plan was to get into Spain today, oh well that didn't happen.

What an amazing shot of the egrets.

Only with my phone boss took some better ones with the camera.
Only other place I've seen them in such large numbers is the Carmargue. Only get the odd one in the field by our house or two or three on the Widewater Lagoon a couple of 100 yds from home.

Like herons they don't seem to be designed for trees but of course that is where they also nest.

Three hundred is an impressive number given it wasn't so long ago they were only seen around the Mediterranean.

A few days with friends that's all, spent most of the time being a FLT.
Not going too well on this trip 5th night away already spent €6 on camping will be over budget at this rate.
