we are newbies
Our used Burstner has two 90 Ah Varta leisure batteries, so I do not know the age of them or how well they have been treated. We ran out of power whilst wild camping at new year so I have decided to bench test them.

I have fully charged each battery and then used a 18A load. Starting off at 12.8 volts after 10 minutes on load the voltage has dropped to 10.5 volts, both batteries exhibit similar readings.

From this I would think that the batteries require replacing.

I would welcome comments from more experienced members.

Sounds like they are past their sell by date. Normally measure battery voltage off load after at least half an hour after the load has been disconnected.
If your case 10.5v on load after 10min with a 10% load we can safely say they are fecked.

AGM's by any chance?
