We are staying in the alps a few days and came back to a bad smell and a hot leisure battery. We have been away a week and this just happened on a new campsite.
We have tuned off all electric and hook up.
The question is is it safe to unhook the leisure battery and run direct from the hook up.
It is a couple of days before we are due to move to a bigger town. When we do should we do anything different.

You'll need to check your manual or ring the charger manufacturer. Some charger panels won't turn on without a battery connected and others need a battery to function correctly.

As Tony say it depends on your charger think your van has a Sargent charger give them a ring they will advise.
Also you need to find out why the battery has cooked, it could be a duff battery or it could be either the mains charger or solar controller that has cooked the battery.
