On our daughter's 2001 La Strada PVC there is a large unidentifiable leisure battery which we suspect is on the way out and will need replacing.

It is 480mm long, 190mm wide and 190mm high. The two terminals are at one end. There are no identifying marks or labels other than those shown on the images.

I suspect it is a gel battery as the Electronic Battery Charger A910-6 has a switch offering lead and gel options.

Searching Ebay for gel leisure batteries show similar but seem to indicate a use in marine or domestic situations.

I have no idea of the amps capacity of the battery.

The six 'caps' on the top all have the notation 'do not open' in three languages.

Anyone know anything about them?

Similar caps - similar post lay out and Gell

Could be one of these ---- But what a price :Eeek:

Thanks. Looks similar, slightly bigger all round.

Our daughter doesn't do much off grid so probably swap for a smaller lead acid and throw the switch on the charger.

I've checked the + & - leads and they will reach a standard layout battery.

Thanks again.

The blue and yellow wires look a bit feeble. Hopefully they're not the main supply feeding the habitation electrics

No, they are a fused + & - for the 12v socket in the top left of the image. (y)

If you're not going for Gel or AGM make sure it's a sealed low-maintenance type of lead-acid battery, not the type that need to be topped up, with open vents. Often these gels are fitted in a place where the gases from an open vented type could be dangerous.

If it will fit you might like to consider one of the following,
Thanks for that.
The existing battery sits in a tray that looks a custom fit.
The one you show is slightly longer and wider.
I could fit a new tray, but the width would take it too close to the charger.
Thanks again.
