Hi Steve M here
I have had e&p jacks fitted at S.a.p yesterday.
They noticed that my leisure battery was leaking and disconnected it.
Busy day today picked up my hydra Trail from easy lifter and then to SMC .
They replaced the leisure battery under warranty so all is good.
I was chatting to someone and they say the battery could leak by leaving it on hook up at home.
Is this the case and should we have the van parked without hookup while at home, we have 2 solar panels

Modern chargers won't cause any problems with the battery if left on but with the solar panels you don't need to plug in.

Hi Lenny
Does this mean we can be of hook at home and the fridge still working relying on the solar panels or do we have to have hook up for the fridge and leaving it on hook up will not damage the leisure battery

The solar will just charge the batteries.
Some modern fridges can be run from solar but you need a lot of solar panels then its possible in southern Europe.

Getting there!
Is it the grey Moll gel battery? Ours have been replaced for black Molls. Issues with grey ones apparently.

I will check in the morning I think it was black.
Warren at SMC did mention their was problems with the grey.
Just checking am I okay to leave the van on hookup at home so we can leave the fridge on.

Yes you will be fine on hook up, it just means not for long periods don't leave on hook up, ie, weeks and months.

not long enough
we leave our Hymer on permanently when at home, Alde heating on 10C, charger on, fridge on and full, always ready to go and safe from elements if we don't (y)

Doesn't make it right, but its what we do :)(y)

we have gel batteries not sure it that helps or not
