I recently installed 2 110Ah leisure batteries in place of the 85Ah that was originally installed
The only wires that were connected to the battery were thin prob 4 gauge 2 red 2 black? Which I assume come from charger and the alternator B2B ?
I used 25mm cable to parallel them up
My question is do I need to fit an earth strap from neutral to chassis ?
The original 85Ah battery did not have one fitted
Your thoughts and answers appreciated

If it is working ok without the negative strap to the chassis, adding a second battery doesn't fundamentally change anything.. the load on the cables doesn't increase, but it would do no harm to fit one.

Personally I wouldn't bother.. others may say differently..

When you say B2B do you have an aftermarket B2B? Or are you referring to the "Split charging system" fitted by the manufacturer?

If the latter I agree with Jim, if the former, it sounds all wrong

Jim is spot on, if it's not broke, don't fix it. You see no appreciable improvement by tinkering, you'd have to change a lot to see any real difference

Thanks for your replies
So am I right to think this is called a floating earth ?
It just made me wonder why the engine battery is grounded and not the leisure ?
But as Jim pointed out everything works and since the installation of the 2 new batteries and fitting of 2 x 100w solar panels my batteries are holding their own fine
