Hi All

I have just replaced my Leisure Batteries and now have installed two Exide G80/ES900 GEL type, i have changed the settings on the CBE battery charger and NDS Solar Controller to GEL
I have read in the instructions for the Solar Controller there is also a setting that can introduce a Desulphation Phase into the charging curve, it then states caution if there are on board control units sensitive to voltages greater than 15volts. I am just wondering has anyone come across this before and should i introduce a Desulphation Phase, many thanks

I wouldn't unless there is a problem. One of my battery chargers in the shed have the feature, never used it.

That function is for wet, flooded batteries only, where you can replace the water loss. Never on sealed, and definitely NOT on gel, they will blister the gel of the plates inside pronto.

Not for gel batteries I wouldn't think.
You could try it on an old lead acid battery to see if it improves that, but gels have a different composition me thinks.

Some claim to work with all lead acid types... It's not straightforward though, have a read 😊
