There should be no such thing as a bad lawyer but...........................there may be some who are not as good as others.

Recommendation is the key and seek a few.

A bad lawyer may tell you that you have a case when you don't or advise you that your chances are better than they are. To be fair they are rare and my advice would be go to a reputable firm, recommended, and see a specialist litigator (which I am not).

Try to steer away from a lawyer who is conveyancing in the morning, knocking up a will at lunchtime, doing a bit of divorce after lunch and a bit of litigation before heading home.

Good specialist litigator, spend a few quid (you are paying for his knowledge remember) and then make your own mind up based on your aversion to risk and/or coast after that.

Under £5k I expect Treacle is right and your costs are lost but I dont really know as I move sheds and sort out doctors!!

By the way, you will not get any sympathy on here .

It only kicks home when it affects people, and people on here don't think it will affect them , until it effects them:RollEyes:

did you pay ANY part of the purchase price by credit card ?

if the van was less than £30000 then the credit card company are liable for ALL the cost.

in some cases it also covers purchases over £30000

section 75 of the consumer credit act applies.

pays to listen to his holiness Martin Lewis.
:thumb::roflmto:

Under section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974, the credit provider may be equally responsible for any breach of contract or misrepresentation by a supplier of goods or services on credit.
