Left Nice behind and now in Castellane (1 Viewer)

Left the agony of Nice behind and drove to Castellane yesterday and what a lovely wee town. 2 Aires in town one run by the town and a private one at the war museum, we stayed at the museum for €8:50 with hook-up toilets and both fresh and waste water, the guy couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. If in this area give it a try he has 50 pitches.
Woke up this morning to a nice fresh day so walked to Notre Dame de roc, now having lunch in town before heading to The Verdon gorge.

Will post photos of the Gorge when I have better signal, it was amazing so thanks @DavidG58 for the tip.

Having drove the Gorge road we are now parked up for the night near the lake, it's been a stunning day here with lovely sky's and fresh air, now have a sky full of stars.

We stopped in Castellane 2 yrs ago for lunch. My heart was in my mouth at times driving up the mountain but some nice photos taken there

2 foreign girls came to the van asking for something. A few hand gestures later we figured it out. ..toilet roll

We are heading home slowly, possibly heading for Chambery today but no set plans apart from we have to be in Rotterdam by Sat afternoon.

You will need a couple of days serious driving to be in Rotterdam by Saturday.

It won't take that much we will saunter along until Friday then see what we need to do on Saturday.
Currently in Annecy now so could do it in a day if we really wanted to

Gerry no idea if it's your thing but there are some great caves and waterfalls just past the end of the lake. cant remember the name sorry. We got details from tourist office
We really liked the old town and some nice walks in the hills around the lake

We did the Gorge on the Blackbird, Jo!

I kept saying Oooh look at that, stunning! and Pete kept replying I bloody can't - too many gravillons and bloody Winnebagos! LOL

We love Castellane.

Stayed there last year on the "other" Aire by the river as the ground was flatter. Had a nice meal and drink in the town after climbing to the chapel.

The old bridge is next to "our Aire.

There is a nice walk along the river on the path visible in the photo.
