Looking to replace all our halogen lights for Led's.
Been recommended Aten Lighting and LedHut.
However slighty confused.

LedHut has 2w G4 Led at £2.99

Warm White 2700k and Daylight 4000k both 140 lumens
Both equivalent to 15w

Aten has 1.6w 10 Led Side pin G4 at £5.49
https://www.atenlighting.co.uk/10led-side-pin-g4-387.html
Cool White and Warm White 180 lumens equivalent to 10w
Or
2w 12 Led Side pin G4 at £5.99
https://www.atenlighting.co.uk/12led-side-pin-g4.html
Cool White and Warm White 240 lumens equivalent to 20w

My understanding is the higher the lumens the higher the equivalent watts and the brighter they are. However as you can see Ledhut 2w is 140lm whereas Aten 2w is 240lm so confused can anyone clarify?

Also is Aten worth the price over LedHut?

My current Halogen are 10watts. I assume whether 10,15 or 20w equivalent should not make a difference as the wattage ie 1.6w or 2w is lower than 10w?

On our previous motorhome we had some aten ones and some cheapies off e-bay. The aten ones always were fine the ebay ones a fraction of the prices were usually ok but occasionally there would be a dud. Wherever you get them from they use a lot less electric no need to keep with halogen now. Try to get them all the same colour temperature as they look a bit funny otherwise and if you are keeping some halogen go for warm white heres a link to some of the cheapies not the ones I tried because it was a few years ago now and I can't remember the seller

When I changed mine I got them from one of the shows, led4you, rings a bell. We have 2 sorts of side pin G4 replacements, one type has 6 leds and the other has 12 leds both on the same size backing. Obviously the 12 is a lot brighter, we mainly have the white light type.

For brightness it's the lumens that count there is a big variation in brightness and quality on LEDs.
Our first van I changed to to LEDs bought cheap ones but they were a bout £5 each good ones were over a tenner at the time never had any problems with them.
With cheap ones it's pot luck with expensive ones you are paying for a guaranteed standard but doesn't always work.

You probably get what you pay for. Aten seem to have a good reputation that would not exist if customers have been disappointed with their products.

I made the mistake of getting ‘cool’ white because they seemed brighter. The other bulbs in your van are more likely to be ‘warm’ or yellow, so get those. I think it’s the same LED under a small coating of amber. The ‘cool’ light is a bit harsh by comparison.

We started off with warm white ones but found they didn’t give enough light so now we have Cool white, apart from a couple of side lights.

Most of mine are from Aten but the main thing is to make sure they are 8v to 30v regulated ones, not simple 12v ones which wont last long at 14.5v

Well all mine are off Ebay and I have only used one out of my spares box. As I can fit out the van with G4s for a fraction of the likes of Aten I think they may be a tad over priced. Of course I could just be the one in a million winner but I have bought from various Ebay suppliers over the years fitting out 3 vans and I think I had one dud. The only ones I have problems with are w5w ones and that I think is the poor fitting rather than the lamps
