Hi, we’ve just noticed a leak coming from the tap in our bathroom, shown by the green arrow. It’s dribbling down from inside the body of the tap but I’m struggling to get the tap out.

Am I able to undo the jubilee clips that the blue arrow points to so that I can remove the whole tap unit?
Will the water need turned off if I do this? If I don’t turn the water off will it just come pouring out if I undo the jubilee clips?
Is there any point in taking it out if I don’t have a small enough Torx key to release the internals from the tap body? This Torx key is smaller than T10 in size.

Thanks in advance!

Turn the water pump off, take it off have a close look.
possible fail on the pipe crimp or even coule be the washer in the main unit, youll get a good idea when you whizz it off.

You dont need to drain down all your water tnk, if you run the tap to relaease pressure first but you will get whats in the pipes spilling out....thick towel or bowl required ;)

Excuse my ignorance but I’m struggling to find out where to turn the water pump off.
Truma site is not much help, nor is Dethleffs.
Is it just a case of pulling the pump fuse out, or is there a switch that I can’t find?

Microswitch tap....no pressure in pipes

Pulling the fuse seems to have worked.

You won't get the pipes off the tap, they are crimped on.
You need to undo the jubilee clips somehow. I notice they have a hexigan head so a small spanner/socket will get them moving
Don't forget to disconnect the brown and black wires.

As you’ve now got the big nut off the bottom of the tap, you just need to disconnect the pipes at the jubilee clips, and the wire, unless there is enough slack. Then shove the tap upward (into bathroom above) you will then see the two pipes (red and blue) are held in place with a pin that locks them in place. Remove pin by pushing out and that will then show rubber seals on the pipe spigots.

The compression fit on the water pipes is proving troublesome so I’m going to try to borrow a hair dryer!

Jubilee clips came off fine, and the wires disconnect easily.
Will update once we get the pipes disconnected!

Thanks for your help everyone!

Local Chinese store will have screwdriver sets with Torx bits in them only a few Euro, had to buy a set when my tap was playing up in Portugal.

Hate to say most of the problems with these taps is often a cracked body. Normally due to freezing but won't be in your case.

I’m not sure if it is worth stripping until you’ve got replacement parts to hand, or at least two pipe caps, as removing the tap will stop you being able to use the water system.

Didn’t need to disconnect the water pipes after all.

Actually I’ve just checked and it’s still leaking

😢

Is the white plastic tap internal designed to be removable?

I’m guessing that I need to remove these 3 screws to release it.

When I’ve fixed leaks like you appear to have it’s been cured by new O rings fitted to the two (blue and red) pipes that go into the base of the tap. I put it down to the pipes not liking being pulled sideways.

I’ve re-greased the 2 internal seals that are supposed to stop water coming out anywhere but the tap spout but it’s still leaking.

Not much more I can do. Any ideas how we block the water from that bathroom tap so we can still have water elsewhere in the van? The water pressure when the pump fuse is back in is enough to make it leak .

wine corks or the plastic ones push into pipes and use jubilee clips to hold them ,

When observed the slow drip comes down the wire from inside the white plastic barrel. It's not leaking from the red or blue connectors just below the white bit so i think it must be the black seals although they look fine. Is it just a coincidence or could this be caused by our recent citric acid system cleanse?

Anyone know where to get new seals from (in lockdown in Portugal) or maybe just a whole new tap?

It could well be as a little calcium could have been stopping the leak from showing its self, have you a magnifying glass to look closely for a hairline crack, can you connect the tap without putting it back into the tap sleeve to see where it’s leaking..? It might be coming from the actual tap switch mechanism on top...

Sorry to be the bearer of what might be bad news. Had a similar problem with a domestic tap. Got some new o rings which were supposed to be for the tap but the leak was worse. Tried various others that looked a good fit but none stopped the leak. Vaseline is a good lubricant for o rings in taps but obviously hot water will just melt it eventually.
As a temporary measure how about a domestic tap and put a switch on the wires if u cant find a micro switched replacement.
