Leaking roof light (1 Viewer)

Hello all,
We were filming in the van and noticed a small leak (you'll see it in the vid below) coming through our skylight. The dealer has suggested taking it out to replace the sealant. The water is only coming through this tiny area though, so will that cure the problem? Any other suggestions for a fix? Vid for clarity :

The water runs out from there if the seal of roof vent to roof isn’t sealed. Unless you’ve been overly using the hose on your roof washing it. You can drop the lower/inner assembly and see where water is entering, without breaking the outer vent to roof seal.

Ah ok! I didn't know that. Thank you very much for the info. Edit - I haven't had a hose up there, but it has been raining pretty heavily, non-stop, for the past 4 days. With that in mind, is it normal for there to be a few drips like this? I don't want to take the mickey and ask the dealer to do work that isn't really required.

It may be prudent to check exactly where the water is coming in from.
It may appear to be coming in from just above from where you can see the drip, but it could be entering from some other point and travelling along the insulation until it eventually finds its way inside.

As already suggested take the internal surround off and try to establish the point of entry - someone inside while someone outside hoses the seal outside. If the van is a few yrs old its undoubtedly the seal/mastic between the roof and the frame. You might be able to bodge it with some silicone when its dried off but best to remove the frame and reseat it into fresh mastic. Make sure you clean the existing all off - messy job with a scraper and white sprit.
