Leaking Fuel Tank (1 Viewer)

Hi All,
We have a 98 Mobilvetta Driver 68 on a Ducato base.
Recently the fuel tank has started leaking in numerous places. Someone has said the baffle welds fail leading to holes in the tank...
Local garages are unable to source an original, does anyone have any experience of what replacement tank will fit?
Are later Ducato tanks a suitable upgrade, or the citroen/peugeot versions maybe?

Better pictures with some measurements and a trip to a breakers (or online request), should find you a replacement. Just need to ensure filler and output can be married up may need some fuel line reworking. Or get a bespoke stainless steel one made?

There are companies out there that refurbish fuel tanks, mainly for classic vehicles.

Worth firing off an email to see if one of these companies can help.

You mean an alternative tank for a different vehicle? I'm reluctant to go with a used Ducato tank as that may well have the same issues.

Is it though, or is it their guess?
It certainly isn’t a common failure. Possibly more so if left standing for ages. But failed seals around float mech, perished rubber hose fittings are far more likely.

It's hard to know without taking the tank off. if it's the seals then new ones will go on the new tank. The fuel is leaking around the whole tank rather than a specific point which seems strange.

If it was a punctured hole you could have screwed a self tapping screw in with a suitable sealant ie RTV orange or a fibre/ cardboard washer.
I have used this on my lorry. I was shown this by a Romanian driver. They never get stuck, fantastic get out of the poo drivers.

Which ever way you look at it IMO you will have to take the tank out!!
once that has been done you will have a much greater chance of getting the correct tank or at the very least be able to see if the original is beyond repair.
