Whoa! That's amazing! Can't believe I've never heard of this before. My bumper is the exact same colour as that faded white one in the video too, thanks very much :D

I've just noticed too, the reg plate on your motor nearly says "BUS 4 FUN" (y)

What's the hot air trick on the bumpers?

The front bumper on my 1999 Ducato was black plastic but it's almost bleached itself white since then! I tried that spray on stuff from Halfrauds, waste of money that was!

Any tips??
Wax based back shoe polish makes a great job, lasts around 4 months.

The heatgun method can turn out patchy and botched looking. @FJmike knows the secret..........will he tell you???

Much easier with a hot air gun
Here's a demo

Please don't use a heat gun on your bumpers, initially they will look really good but after a while they will look worse than when you started and you won't be able to revive it. I use a trade only product that lasts better than most treatmentsView media item 17531

Ralph's very envious of your fantastic warm work space !
He had to convert our Pug outside in the back garden , under a big sheet of visqueen when it rained. It's looking great.
Keep posting the pics.

If I had to do it outside I probably wouldn't of even started yet

Ralph would have waited till the summer to do ours ideally.
But we wanted to be out and about again ASAP , as we sold our Motorhome sooner than expected.
So he started in January and finished September . Working every weekend and most evenings after work.
But we did go to a few rallies unfinished, with a portapotti , big canisters of water, and a camping gas stove !
It reminded us of our tenting days !

Autoglym sell a bumper and trim GEL it's not a polish, personally I don't like it a it's rather messy and doesn't last very long. If you are unfortunate to have a bumper that has been hot air gun treated about the only solution is Wurth bumper paint, available in black or grey.

It's all been a bit slow of recent. Today I managed to get a light over the side door, and the flying saucer on the roof

You might be lucky and have the Albion axles instead of the crap they produced in Brum.If it's a 54 plate you will have.(y) When the LDV contract finished we did the previous gen. of the Sprinter axles.

The heat gun trick is used in the bike trade a lot on old s/h bikes to rejuvenate faded plastics, but as mentioned, it does not last long and when it fades back will be even worse !
Basically the heat draws the oil out of the plastic

Nothing much. Just a few holes for things like the hookup point, water heater flue, cassette toilet door, that sort of thing

It was a nervous day today. Normally the van lives in doors, but wanting to test I'd sealed the roofvent properly I left it out in the rain all day and then had a blat down the dual carriageway. Very happy to report that there was no water on the inside :D

Lunchtime today was time to get the holesaw out. All went to plan, and the socket for the hookup fits. Still have the holes for the toilet, fridge, and water heater to do.
It's not sealed yet, as I want to paint the bare metal first

Too right. It needs to be done by July as we've booked to go to the Silverstone Classic for 4 nights. The wife won't be impressed if we end up going in the tent

Yes, the time will soon pass.
I've got a week off work in Feb which will be fully dedicated to it, so that should move things along a bit

A little more done today.
I started on the overcab storage.

20170126_132313_zpsxlosjndl.jpg

That allowed me to mount the screen for the rear camera.
20170126_132252_zpsxnzduxy1.jpg

I didn't want it to come on only when in reverse, as they'll be times when we tow a small trailer and I'd like to be able to check on it. Instead it's all powered from the now redundant load area light, which I can turn on from the dash.:D

I can't tell from that angle, can you still stand up from the drivers seat?
