Popped out earlier to fill up with diesel prior to our weekend escape tomorrow.
On the way back out of town a complete moron in a BMW X7 tried to be smart and cut up a truck leaving a roundabout to gain a place or two by using the wrong side of the keep left island. He failed big time as a tractor with very wide trailer totally filling the opposite lane approaching the roundabout blocked his way, with fist on the horn and much tyre smoke he realised I was right behind the truck and there was nowhere to force his way in.
Deciding he didn’t want to argue with the side of a big white Motorhome he dropped back but his patience didn’t last long and half a mile and a mini roundabout later I heard the growl as his foot hit the floor and a quick mirror glance showed he was on a kamikaze move to pass us whilst trying to reach warp speed and dodge the oncoming traffic.
What did didn’t see was the police car join in front of the truck at the roundabout or the fixed speed camera!
First the reflection of the camera flash in the oncoming coach windscreen then the blues from the police car then the inevitable siren but the guy was well on his way to breaking the sound barrier and they sped off.
It was almost two miles later when we passed both in a lay-by, the BMW driver was cuffed and bent over on the bonnet of the traffic car.?
Nicked and a speed camera ticket, brilliant!
Truck driver couldn’t resist it and gave a big blast on the air horns as we went on our way by, I was just laughing uncontrollably! ?
Just for once justice was served.?

as in so many of the police programs on TV hopefully they now find a few other things wrong

always amazes me why the morons with no insurance or stolen goods or drugs on board still do things to draw attention to themselves

our local police use FB to publish uninsured stops, we typically get 3 or 4 a week within 5 miles of our town

Great news, I hate ar####les that drive like that, I always think to myself what is the point, he ends up stressing everyone around him, and probably unknowingly himself also. I am a BMW driver, but I like to think a sensible one, and I hate any driver that doesn't use their indicators, even young drivers think its uncool or cant be bothered to use them.
Love to know why he was handcuffed?, was he drunk arrested on the spot, or was it a stolen car, as I dont know of any occasion where that would be standard practice, unless he mouthed off to the police officers and presented them with a risk.
Hopefully a police person ex or current will read this thread and enlighten me.
Hope they throw the book at him, if safe driving needs more enforcement, then bring it on.

I would really like to have it all on the dashcam and post but it really doesn’t show anything as it was mostly at the side or by reflection! Shame really but the audio would have been me laughing!

Given there were plenty of opportunities to pull off the road before the lay-by they were in I wonder if he continued to use the right foot and they captured more bad behaviour on camera? That being said he wasn’t exactly dressed to impress so may have got his just deserts if he got a bit gobby!

One of our FB posts of police stops this week was a young lad in a 5 series BMW who actually had insurance but had removed his front number plate as he thought it made the car look better  he hadn't even been clever enough to chuck it on the front dash :D2

not sure what series now I look again

Don’t be amazed, they do it precisely because they are morons. :):)

Filling up with diesel at local station tonight I noticed a lone officer had pulled over a driver, presumably for speeding - and he was being breathalysed. Driver got very aggressive, loud, gesticulating, etc. Officer steps back, hand on baton and radios for help. Within a couple of minutes there were 9 marked cars on scene, and 4 more sent away. It still took them 15 minutes to get him in cuffs and into the back of a car.

Had the original car had two officers, they would have had enough to deal with the situation without denuding half the county of police for 20 minutes.

What surprised me was how vocally critical most people in the petrol station were of police “persecuting” people like the perp.

My daughter is a special , and some nights as half of double crew car , they are sole cover of town of 40,000 and surrounding area ! Most people don't realize The thin blue line is hardly there at all at times !!

Got to admit though, it does look better

This hasn't changed for decades. Similar boat that in the 1990s as a former Special (for those that don't realise Special's are volunteers with full police constable powers) I could be out with one other Special and was frequently called on by control if we could continue a shift as we were the only cover left for our Borough Council area, and half the neighbouring one.

Even if a car had been double crewed, if someone is "kicking off" there would be need for reinforcement for that person's safety as much as the officers involved. Sometimes it can look completely over the top but it is much more preferable to have numbers that can genuinely take control. If available (and that is a big if), officers will "head towards" but can soon be stood down when not required.

Drink drivers can often be a high risk. Initially they might be compliant, but the alcohol can remove some inhibitions. When the driver realises the consequences if they are caught losing licence means can't get to work so no job, means no mortgage, no house, family get upset ....

But Murphys law dictates if you do something daft it WILL be in front of a copper !!!

Amazingly, it is less of an offence to have no number plate than either an altered one ( spacing, background, bolts used to change the appearance etc )

Update!
Through a chance conversation with a gentleman of the constabulary over a coffee I have just found out a little more about the BMW that actually only stopped as the car ran out of fuel!
Quite a few aspects behind the arrest and cuffs;-
Hit police car in attempt to force it off road.
Offensive weapon (officer described as f**k**g big machete) brandished by passenger as he got out of vehicle (I didn’t see passenger when I drove past, apparently he was on ground behind the BMW after use of taser, with second officer!)
Firearms found in “covert” compartment in boot.
Driver has previous ‘form’ for violent behaviour towards police officers.
Passenger had outstanding warrant for skipping bail and had “substances” on his person in significant quantities.
Lack of current driving licence - driver still banned for previous dangerous driving!
No valid insurance, certificate produced was a forgery!
Index (number) plate not matching car, number belonged to a RangeRover Evoque from Dorset, vehicle itself stolen, vin removed but had ‘hidden’ id tags.
Reported “hit and run” collision for same vehicle a couple of hours earlier.

All in all the boys in blue consider this a big catch with the culprits both remanded in custody neither are expected to return to free society soon.

I now consider myself very lucky not to have either been hit by this idiot or to have been face to face in trying to sort out the aftermath!
Relieved rather than laughing now.

Wow, that is quite a catalogue of offences. If two officers managed to tazer and cuff those two with their records of violence then a big CONGRATS to them. Job very well done.

I doubt they'll get a decent term in jail. That's just the way things are these days.

Passenger kept out with the machete and the officer acted on reflex by the sound of it, self preservation. Driver actually got out placid apparently when he saw the taser used!

Good, that’s two more pieces of scum off our streets.
Hope the punishment befits the crime, sadly something tells me it won’t.

I really think that it is time to have more armed Police. Now we have a Home Secretary with some balls we may see a re-balancing as I really don't think that scumbags are worried about "laws" anymore and live by there own tribal rules

That’s a cracking list of offences and an excellent stop, which shows the importance of double crewing at all times.

I’m well out of it now, but my former traffic colleagues are still routinely single crewed during the day and as far as I know, they’re still not taser trained.

That stop up here could have had a very different outcome for a single crewed cop.

yes no plates=£60fine and no points as isn't endorssble

this is why they need there feet and legs broken as any legal punishment isn't worth the bother.

But things are all going to be much better when Boris employs the extra 20,000 ready made constables he is bringing in from "Rozzers are Us" in September. We can all sleep soundly in our beds knowing that the number of police officers on the beat will be back to almost where it was in 2009 when we were all complaining that there weren’t enough constables........
Continued on page 94........

Do BMWs have indicators as standard ? Just asking.....

Given the circumstances reported, taser first ....... ask questions later (y)(y)(y)

Policing like the "old days " :X3::X3:

(A shame P.A.C.E. did away with "cell therapy" - rarely failed to quicken the evidenced 'confession')

Yes just like every other car, but as I said earlier its just those that cant be bothered to use them.
Especially when you have stopped to give way at a roundabout to the Ar####le approaching you from the right and he/she turns left right to enter the road you have entered from?
Just an example of every day society these days, no one gives a crap about anyone else, and it will get worse no doubt.

Don't want to rain on anyone's parade but where are they going to work from? As well as binning 25000 bobbies and about 20000 support staff (nobody has mentioned restoring them, have they?) since 2010, the incompetent sods also closed down/sold off/demolished a very significant number of the police stations in the country. There's only so many chairs in the library/CAB/Tescos the police are obliged to use now.....

Great soundbite, Boris - I'll believe it when I see it....:banghead:

Bring back Gene Hunt I say

And of course they’ll all be qualified to degree level too ?

Yes what is all this b******t about, degree who the feck needs a degree to police properly.

I really am at a loss as to what’s happening in this Country.
