Most of my life in one form or another
Im looking at getting Andrea an E bike.
I know she would want a step through type but not the Brompton style.
Biggish wheels etc .
Must have a good range.
She hired one in Belgium the other year and loved it.
Ive got maybe just over £1k , i know its not alot but there must be something.
Thanks 👍

The best ebikes have a crank based motor but I don’t believe that you will get a new one for your budget,we bought Orbea bikes around 4 years ago and they were £1700 each.
Decathlon used to do a reasonable one with a rear motor for around £800.

Yikes i might have to re think my budget.
Ill see what she makes me for my Tea 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Whisper or Woosh.
Honestly they will do everything you need.
Based on experience. E bikes for 10 years.

I have one for sale in classified, it's the lowest step through we could get for my wife. It's a cracker.

Mum in law has a Trek Verve + low step in dark metallic red. Lovely looking bike and decent range. Think she paid about £2,000 for it

She will be 80 next month but goes cycling with us often. Furthest she has done on the bike is 32 miles and still had power leftover in the battery

I was very much of the "I aint spending more than a grand" but having bought a couple of bikes in Germany for a couple of grand each, I m very much happier having seen obvious quality difference

When we got married, some 35 years ago, ffi had never had a bike or even learned to ride so I had to teach her. I start with that so you can see she's NOT an experienced cyclist.
She's had a couple of standard bikes now but a couple of years ago, I spent 1k on a Whisper (a 705SE if memory serves) and she loves it.
Step through, 7 speed block, motor in the back wheel. Been up a couple of passes in Spain and after years of trailing me, she now seems to think its funny going up 1 in 7s with a ramrod straight back whilst I spew my spleen out on my manual!!!!
Cycling through beautiful scenery is one thing. Being able to share it with your best mate. That's class.
Only reservation I have with the Whisper is that the moisture sealing of both the handlebar control and the motor leave a lot to be desired.
You MUST cover both with plastic bags if you're going to wash the bike or leave it out in the rain..........least, we have to.

I owned a KTM with a Crank based Bosch motor a few years ago. Was one of the best things I ever bought when it came to winter and hills. Raleigh do a cheaper version of it called the motus they usually go for around 1500 pounds second hand. the digital display that comes with the bike will give you the mileage done on the bike and if I recall the amount of cycles the battery has gone through being charged (Being as the battery is the expensive part). If you can get to try any Amount of electric bikes first it will certainly help you make up your mind. The bike I had had hub gears which took a very short while to get used too. With so many variations it’s what you feel comfortable with. Some you can even tune up so you can give the young moped riders a shock when your keeping up to them! Good luck

Depending on how handy you are, buying a ladies step through and converting it to electric might be an option.
