We stayed here a few years ago. Reading the recent reviews it sounds like they have replaced the loo/shower block.

One of the most picturesque Stellplatz we have stayed on. The foot ferry runs back an forth direct into the town.
When you get to the stellplatz you are outside the site. The site is an engineering marvel. You will see all the facilities as in reception, shower blocks etc. Next to these buildings are structural frames. Some next to buildings and some further away. It took me 3 days of looking at these structures trying to work out what they are for. The penny dropped on day 3. All the building sit on concrete foundations, most of the frames run parallel to the buildings. At the end of the season the services are disconnected from the buildings and the buildings lifted onto the steel structures, placing them 25 feet in the air. This moves them out the potential flood plane in the winter months. The structures further away are for the additional building where the frames could not be placed alongside. An engineering genius.
The dog wash room was also impressive.

Hope you enjoy.

Be aware that today is a public holiday. We arrived in Koblenz a couple of years ago on Corpus Christi day, another bank holiday and was a Thursday. Could not get in anywhere and informed that Germans make it a long weekend.
You may be alright today as it’s only Tuesday.

Well we arrived at camping knaus and the aire was indeed full so we splashed out for a Riverside pitch, 42.70 one night, ouch. It is a good spot though.
Moving on down the Moselle tomorrow towards Trier anyone got any must see sights or good stellplatz to recommend please ? Or anything else we should be looking for. First time in Germany.
Thanks

Don’t miss Eltz Castle, we stayed overnight roadside on the stellplatz at Cochem, near the police station and road bridge crossing the river. Get there early. The next morning made an early start to drive up to the castle.

A really nice place to stay is at Klüsserath, if you just want to relax. Use the Stellplatz, not the campsite. Last year it cost €9 including EHU.
It is a large, grassy park and looks more like a campsite. We managed to get a place right on the river.

That looks interesting, is there parking up at the castle ?

Yes, it is along the roadside at an angle. The earlier you get there the easier it is and the nearer to the entrance you will be. I think we were directed where to park. If I remember correctly we drove up and then had breakfast and then I think we got on a minibus to the castle itself. Minibus optional but worth it.

Bernkastel-Keus is worth a stop, although I suspect it will be busy over the Bank Holiday.
Plenty of Stellplatz nearby, we stayed at Sun Park (camper contact 9432).

We didn't fancy the Stellplatz in Trier and opted to stay at nearby Echternach (oldest town in Luxembourg).
Lots of history (Roman - WWII), and cheap fuel (y)
We stayed at Camping Echternachterbruck, on the banks of the river Sauer (camper contact 27554)

Good Rail service down the Mosel valley to Koblenz. Koblenz worth visiting but limited parking and expensive camp sites, whereas plenty of good stellplatz in most villages along the river.

Stayed in the stellplaz in the car park next to the Rhine. BIG SHOCK entrance is off a dual carriage way through a railway arch. Ht. sign said 3.5mtr, that's good I thought just squeak in. Come next morning and drive up to the exit again through a railway arch again, WHAT! exit ht. 3.2mtr!!!. (or similar)

Quick look around the park and there was no one higher than us. Wondering when we would see our loved ones again, couldn't use the entrance as it would mean going up a dual carriageway the wrong way! Eventually a high lorry came over the bridge from the island. I followed it up a dirt track and eventually came to an over height level crossing with an intercom to open the gates. Phew!

@Glandwr wondering which is the stellplaz with the lower bridge to get out, heading that way later in the year and would prefer to avoid it if possible.

It's the one in the Vallendar part of the city, campingcarinfos aire no. 2425. Right on the bank of the Rhine opposite the big Island with a small village on it.

Evening, were on the stellplatz in cochem by the town this evening, lovely spot.
Moving on to Trier on Saturday and plan a day visit and use the P&R.
We'll be looking for a site or stellplatz in direction of luxemburg after, anyone have recommendations please ?
Also, does Luxembourg have any appeal apart from cheap fuel ?
Is it worth stopping over and going into town ?

There's a really good WW2 museum in Diekirch in Luxembourg and a couple of camp sites by the river Sauer which are only a 5 minute walk into town. There's nice restaurants and a supermarket in the little town too.
There are some nice camp sites in Vianden, again beside the river and a castle to visit. Not been to Luxembourg city though.
