Anyone know what is causing this. Told cv joint ok, wheel bearing said to be OK and checked the rods and suspension all apparently fine. I am now thinking the noise is from something catching on the steering arm, is this possible. Fiat ducato, a class, 2015 model. Ta in advance.

Could be anything in the suspension components.

If a garage you trust has checked and can’t find what it is, the forum probably has no chance.

Ours sometimes clunks when reversing on a hard lock. I have put it down to the springs just settling into place as the garage has checked the suspension as have I and we can’t find a thing.

Oh, forgot to ask, does the knocking increase with speed? If so, it is most certainly the CV joint unless something is catching.

No same level of noise doing 1 mph or 60 mph.

Do I trust the garage ! That's still debatable. When it went for service I asked them ( who I do trust) and they heard it but could not find anything. Its frustrating, and concerned as to how safe it is when hurtling down the motorway.

Ducato has always had wheel bearing problems. Could that be it?
It's something I have thought about, but it's only done 13k, and at this point reluctant to take it all apart, for it to be still OK.

I thought that but you never know, thought it was worth a shout just incase its another fiat trait.

and have you checked on full lock if the tyre touches the plastic inner arches? If it is only just clear when checking on flat ground and stopped, it can sometimes catch under load

is it more like a clicking grinding thumping Or wining noise

Must be time to just have the vehicle jacked up so the front wheels are off the ground try each full lock and spin the wheels, you will be able to feel any play in bearings, ball joints etc. That will then eliminate those.

Not checked that but will do in the morning. Would not have thought that as its got tiny tiny wheels, 15in., nut guess plastic guard could be loose. Ta

not ducato but a citroen I looked at, the tyre caught the brake hose and was only evident by the rub mark on the hose

You seem to have checked most things apart from the spring itself. Mine was broken right at the top and only knew about it when part of it flew across the road while turning. (most of the top ring)

Yikes, I am going to have a look myself tomorrow.

Wheel bearing will rumble.
CV joint will click loudly
Yeah thanks neither of those noises. I am leaning to something is catching or the suspension, at the moment. Hopeing it's nought much.

Dried out rubber bushes on anti roll bar can make a gruesome sound.
You can often hear a cv joint if you listen to it at walking pace from the outside - may not make the same sound as at speed though, sometimes just a cracking or popping sound like cracking your knuckles.

Does the knocking noise get faster when turning fast

or same speed of knocking if going slow

tyre blimp I had did that it was the last thing I thought of checking.

Not a Ducato story, but make of it what you will. I accept it might be totally irrelevant to the OP.

I had a mystery knocking noise on my VW T4 at low speeds when turning especially on roundabouts. Eventually it was discovered by a specialist garage to be a cracked ABS ring. The VW main stealership had investigated this, and advised replacing lots of suspension parts, estimate approx £1400 plus VAT, which anyway wouldn't have solved the knocking sound. But I got a new ABS ring fitted for £170 all inclusive, and no more knocking noise. The suspension, CV joints etc, was 100% OK.

ABS ring makes sense as does a broken spring. It's possible the break/crack in the spring is hidden in a bowl/shroud on the suspension fixings. Also can't rule out bushes that might look fine but under certain load will complain.
