Hymer owners will be familiar with this basket waste as it is a Hymer part but will fit I imagine all SMEV sinks and others?
I got fed up of cleaning out the plug after wifey had finished and or the waste being bunged up.
So I changed mine from this

TO THIS

So now I just pull the basket out and shake it in the bin (y)

EDIT current cost £24.61 delivered

We have a similar basket waste in our Burstner. The only problem we have had is that it needed resealing once. Never had a problem with it being bunged up.

My Hymer has those little baskets. I've been thinking about the opposite - doing away with the baskets & fitting a conventional waste. They seem to block with a couple of grains of rice.

Then you just pull it out and shake it off.
That is the whole idea.
My wife used to pull out the plug and then all the detritis blocked the plug hole.

We wipe grease and detritus off the plates before washing, using kitchen roll which goes in the bin. In general the biggest bits that end up in the plug hole are a few coffee grounds which stayed stuck to the filter when it was emptied. Prevents the problem :)

What's this "We" Wifey does the washing up and I can't train her to do my bidding. Hence the basket (y)

Wifey having now tried and tested this has said "a worthwhile improvement and I no longer pull out the plug by accident because of cutlery snagging on the ring"
I never thought of that one (y)
