Hollyberry
LIFE MEMBER
Had a reminder yesterday of the importance of dog tags.
For the first time ever Holly went missing on a walk. She’s 14 and rather deaf. I was terrified she’d get out of the forest onto a road and get hit by a car.
After a frantic search, calling friends to help, other dog walkers taking my mobile number to call if they found her, I got a call to say a lovely couple had found her ( on a road, my worst nightmare) but she was ok.
In the last few years they’ve lost so many tags in the sea I’d given up on them but, thank God, bought new ones just after we moved here. I had updated the chip registry but that would have meant the couple who found her taking her to a vet to get the chip read ( on a Saturday afternoon)
If you’re travelling please make sure your mobile number is on your dog’s ID tag.
Holly looked a bit bewildered but was otherwise fine. I’ve now ordered bells to clip onto her collar on forest walks.
