Mobilvetta KYacht 85
We bought a new K Yacht 85 first trip out mirrors came loose and folded in, As expected dealers useless, First said they arms lifted and moved but just loose,, Next trip same problem and dealer just bolted it up tight. Same trip on way home so dealer bolted them up tighter and now they are solid and arm is not adjustable, If anything clips mirror it will break off. This cannot be right. Any advise?

I would email the manufacturer and ask for advice, also I would question with the manufacturer how appropriate the dealer fix is.

Not on a new van, but I have fixed similar by dismantling the reassembling with some extra friction in the form of a slither of rubber from a bike innertube. Fiat ducato extra wide arm mirrors are so big the air forcing against them at speed gives quite a bit of torque and are only held tight by the friction, plastic to plastic and star washers

Quite large mirrors and expensive looking.

Unfortunately M-J the dealers have an exclusive deal with Mobilvetta and it is impossible to contact Mobilvetta direct. I can’t get any technical information or drawings or instructions. Need to find someone who knows for real about wing mirrors

Thanks TheBig1 As new I don’t want a fix I want it right. Its inevitable such big mirrors that stick out so far will get clipped by someone. If they are solid it won’t end well!

You are right on both counts raysalaugh !! Nice van with heavy weight chassis but dealers are a joke even with Covid been trying to snag stuff for 18 months.

Thanks for link will see what comes back from question

We have same mirrors on our Rollerteam Pegaso, they do not fold, it's hard to see where they would fold to if they did, the nearside one on ours has already survived a dive into a hawthorn hedgerow with just a few scratches when we encountered a fast moving tanker on a narrow road, they seem to be quite robust.

Marquis are sole agents for Mobilvetta and can be a bit hit and miss on customer service, depends which branch you purchased from.

We were told they were lift and turn on an indent but if not bolted tight they move in wind. Did NC500 last year and spent a lot of time up the bank avoiding tractors and tankers! K yacht is extra wide before the huge mirrors.

Unfortunately more miss that hit in our case.

The mirrors on our A Class don't fold in either. Ours are adjustable via a barrel with an allen key, but once they're tightened they don't move (if they're not tightened they move when you're travelling which makes them useless). A close-up photo of the arm and the mechanism might shed a bit more light on yours. I suspect whoever told you that they fold in is mistaken.

You can buy mirror guards for A classes: https://mirror-armour.co.uk/ We have a set on our Rapido, I don't know if they make any to fit a Mobilvetta but it might be worth contacting them to see if they have any that will fit your mirrors (to give you peace of mind?)

Unfortunately can't get inside mechanism without disassembling and currently its locked tight so they don't move. I agree I think agent has no idea and was mistaken. I was hoping another K Yacht 85 owner might actually know the answer. It is a rubbish design although I heard there was a redesigned version due to the problems but can't prove that.

Will try mirror armour which may give some protection against a lorry mirror clipping us.

It's not any wider then our Pegaso, in fact they built in the same Trigano special A class factory as the Mobilevetta's, if you want see wide look at the Bailey Autograph models :giggle:

Very true - according to Marquis the K Yacht 85 is 2.35m wide (excl. mirrors), which is exactly the same as our Rapido (y)
Our old Bailey was 2.41m...which was fun a couple of years ago around Normandy

Saw another thread that wing mirrors can't protrude more than 200mm if below 2m. Currently 370mm one side and 300mm the other:eek: Need a wide load escort now as well...Good thing we can't drive it because wiper motor has failed and Marquis and Fiat can't agree who should fix it- LOL Never thought I would have a static caravan.

Yep I heard that a few months ago and decided to measure ours.....they're a fraction over that with the mirror protectors on but the mirrors are almost touching the side of the MH so they won't go in any further. If we get stopped we'll just have to remove the protectors. Yours sound very wide though....either the mirrors are huge (unlikely!) or they're sticking out far more than needed.

Did you measure from the widest point of your MH, normally the wheel arch trims?

I think so but I can't remember, its close enough that there's plausible deniability/measuring inaccuracy ;)
In case my previous post wasn't clear....ours are just over the 200mm including the Mirror Guards (which add a cm or so), they're nowhere near the 300/370 mentioned by Rohsman

Quite agree, ours are almost touching the side and are 200mm from the window but as M-J says it would be less if you take it from the wheel arche👍

Ours look like they're in the same position as yours.

Rohsman, a photo of your wing mirrors would be useful...from your description it doesn't sound like they're correctly positioned.

My mpv was 1,89m wide excluding mirrors .With mirrors in normal position it added just under 600m,so 2,49m.
