I can't believe my windscreen was so weak!

Positioning he MH on the driveway, i knocked on the window to get the attention of the missus and bang the whole lot went.

Surely there must have been a fault or weakness for it to go so easily.

Glad it was then instead of on the motorway.

Hi did you use a ring on your finger ?, that might have done it, like thieves use an object to break a window, just a thought. Pete

A ring stone or a ceramic chip thrown at it will crack it.

Windscreen went in then something is wrong, windscreen glass cracks not shatter into small bits like the windows
We had spring punches to shatter side windows, never used them as we used something else, but will not say as I do not want a hooligan reading what to do.Had to saw windscreens or use a Kent tool.

When you say window ,did you mean side window or windscreen?
A front windscreen should be laminated and not shatter but just crack, unless it is a really old MH ,when the older windscreens would crystalize(shatter) in a 1000 peices:whatthe:

Hasnt shattered, just cracks all over the windscreen, from top to bottom and side to side.

Either im eating too many shredded wheat or there was a weak spot.

11 year old van?

You may have had a stone chip there - even the smallest can weaken a windscreen by a surprising amount! That coupled with cold spell could have easily weakened it.

it could have been any of the above or it may be that if the van wasn't level there could be a small amount of twist in the body that stressed the screen and you knocking on it just tipped it over the edge.

mind if it is the original windscreen or one that has been there a long time it could just be age fatigue ( it comes to us all eventually ).
