(how fast is your Internet)
I tend to use my mobile (currently a note 3) for most of my daily Internet use and today I actually bothered to see how fast my Internet in the mhome is..
The mhome is parked on the drive just outside the house and well within range of our sky wireless..
My phone is on Vodafone 4g.. The mhome has a 4g router using three.. With an external aerial.
I was sitting in the mhome and we are in East London

Mhome three wifi 10.06mb/s download 2.63mb/s upload
Vodafone 4g 21.12mb/s download 7.33mb/s upload
Sky broadband wifi 2.56mb/s download 0.59mb/s upload
Results via 'speed checker' app

Now.. The sky connection may have been in use at the time... ( No one's admitting it...) But its always been poor and is no surprise to me that it was beaten by the mobile networks.

I would love to get speeds close to those. Even your Sky at 2.56mbp is above the 1.5mbp we get direct from our bt hub. That's the price we pay for wanting to live on a Scottish island. I get really excited when we go towards Glasgow, things happen real fast then

Same here, sometimes 1mbp, but not often. We are the maximum distance from the exchange, and sometimes have no connection.
We did get 1.5 once, or maybe it was twice.
No 4g, no 3g either.

We usually get about 1.5 download and if I'm being honest it works ok. No, I cant stream a HD movie but everything else is not too bad.

agreed, but last time the engineer was here repair our line yet again, we got talking about bb speeds.

We get around 3.5Mb so he suggested fibre bb at 28Mb, just availabe in our area.

I asked what the true speed would be, not the advertised speed, considering our location.

Mmmm!!! 8Mb if you are lucky.

We'll stay as we are thanks.

I get different results depending on the website I use to test the speed  So...

"3" 3G dongle: 1.4 - 4.5 Mb/s download, 1.4 - 1.9 Mb/s upload

PlusNet copper: 3.2 - 3.9 Mb/s download, 0.3 - 0.5 Mb/s upload

3.9Mb/s download through the wireless router is impressive, considering the router itself is reporting a downstream rate of 3.8Mb/s and, as I understand it, you're supposed to subtract 0.7Mb/s to get the actual real-world speed

Bit of fun, but why not add them all together and see what you can get?

Son lives across the road to us he is on broad band
And it is slow you watch the little blue line crawl to load a page
Takes ages to watch a you tube clip

When they come over kids sit and watch my iPad without buffering
Not possible at their house on the same pad

I leave mine connected to our router when babysitting

Sorry don't want to hi jack your thread

I'd settle for a connection most of the time! We are having MAJOR and I mean MMMMMAAAAAJJJJJOOOOORRRR problems with our '3' broadband where we are ... we are less than 200m from the mast and it is chronic ... most night we CANNOT use it for most of the time, sometimes we can use it for a few mins before it drops out again, and even then it is extremely SLLLLOOOOOOOWWWWWWW! Hubby was on to '3' again last night playing merry hell. Apparently there is a major problem with the mast and they are waiting for a part for it .... it makes a change from the 'doing maintenance' fob off I suppose! So far we're going to be at least 2 months 'in credit' on our bills as they keep giving us a credit but I'd much rather have the bl**dy connection working as it should!:Angry::Angry::Angry::Angry:

Hopefully it will be sorted in a few more days ... I can hope can't I!!!! ::bigsmile:

Just an update on this. I finally got around to hooking up my AppleTV as we've just moved house. Anyway watched a film with absolutely no buffering, 1.5mbps can't be too bad can it?

Anyone have speeds for Oyster Internet Sat system?

Anyone have speeds for Oyster Internet Sat system? We used a satellite internet system for about 18 months. Fastish down, slow up but such a long ping it was almost unusable. It costs around £3k installed

beginner, I don't like the newbie term
I am staying in my in laws house in Somerset and the internet is painful, according to OOKLA Download is 1,5 Mbps, with an Upload of 0.05Mbps and ping of 86ms.

Not sure what these numbers mean other than it is very slow. I used to live in the house next door 10 yards away and the Download and Upload speeds were 3 times higher, both were BT Broadband.

I have a house in Cornwall and out of the blue BT offered us free BT infinity at no extra cost ( I did not believe them but on checking there really was no extra costs) we went from a download speed of 4 to 40Mbps within 2 days of it being installed and it was getting quicker every day.

Unusual for Cornwall to get something before Somerset but Infinity is coming to the whole of Cornwall and it really is quick.
