My brother arrived in Greece today, he had to have a blood test before they were let into the hotel the blood test took just 10 mins to process. That was quick. He is now on his balcony having a meal washed down with champagne. Is it really worth it I ask.

Did anyone catch the BBc world service broadcast this morning about the fire in the 30,000 people refuge camp on Lesbos? Just after the end of the report the broadcaster said* Thanks for that warm welcome and now here its the shipping forecast brought to you by the..................*

I prefer the large bottles of Amstel served with a pint glass frosted with ice. (y)

Hmmm. Second best, but at least it isn't the Heineken!

Son No. 2 'escaped' from Crete yesterday and is currently in Athens.
He flys home on Sunday having transferred his return from Thessalonica.

Of course it's worth it.

What would you have him do, stay at home?

It's been a while since I've had a Mythos!

Who remembers back to the days 30-40 years ago when Fix beer was dominant. Then it died a death, to be resurrected about 4-5 years ago but name is now owned by one of the big boys.

I am not a fan of Mythos and prefer Amstel and will not pay the premium for Heineken, although the Greek youth seem to drink it, but that is probably the nuvo riche who think it looks good to drink the expensive one.

I abhor the fact that so many bars and cafes are trying to palm off 33cl bottles at the same price as 1/2lt. I will only accept the latter.

I usually drink where the 'old boys' drink at the ouzeria because they are the ones that stay open for the locals in winter when the tourists have left. I can usually sniff them out in any port. Then onto an ouzo and meze.

Oh, shit I forgot I am not drinking now.

Cancel all above.

Don’t forget WatfordFello, I had a Costa sausage roll today, apparently a hidden gem.

We arrived in Greece by ferry on 4th. We had to complete a passenger locator form before we could enter the country stating where we were staying (tricky as we're mobile but they accepted the boat yard's address) and giving a mobile number. Everyone was throat swabbed before we could leave the port and mobile numbers confirmed. A very slick operation.
A blood test does seem a bit over the top though. Is that a local requirement or just the hotel?

When you read things like the above testing 10 mins, propper record keeping blah blah it makes one wonder why the hell can we not do it. Last trip we made we went in to maybe 4 or 5 different pubs restaurants, 2 took details 3 didn't. There is no consistency

So YES i would go to Greece tomorrow if i wanted to, but i would hope to find San Migel:drink:

Just the hotel I would think, he tells me it is a world top holiday hotel so funds would be available and keeping the hotel name Covid free would be paramount. They have their own waiter who gives them room service for all their needs. They have their own loungers and pool so mixing with anyone who has not had a negative test is very unlikely.
