On a lovely quiet CL on Hayling Island hunting for the Elsan point. All I could find was a black plastic tank perched next to a mahole cover that was half covered in grass. A water hose lying next to it. But I could see no sign of how the box would drain, there was a few inches of water and some leaves. Just then a worried lady approached and advised me it was not the Elsan, it was a water tank for soaking the hay for her pony! Not sure why you soak hay but glad I did not have the cassette with me.

A few years ago when in Morocco I accidentally emptied our cassette into a shower tray! Gave the guy 50 somethings and he said not to worry he would sort it out - embarrassing moment.

It keeps the dust down, especially in this dry weather

Hay is also soaked to remove excess sugars and carbs for horses that need lower sugar diets for conditions including laminitis.
