Sorry I don't believe that. An Intel i7 is the same processor at the same spec in a Mac or a PC. ::bigsmile:

The parts that Mac uses, are built by the same manufacturers such as Intel but they are built to a higher spec. provided by Mac design engineers.

Hence the higher cost.

BMW have parts made for them by manufactures who also make parts for cheaper brands but the spec is very different.

Sounds like Marketing Hype to me...

I love Apple Macs too....

OK, enough is enough. Now lets not start another A Frame / Gassing type thread :ROFLMAO: However, if Steve Jobs had released the Apple code when he started the company, we would all be using Macs now. Sadly, he refused to release an operating system that relied on the end user to Beta test unlike Microsoft. How many times are updates - security or otherwise - released by Microsoft after the OS has been released to the public as a finished item? Yes, Macs are a bit more expensive than PC's - mine was over £1000, but as said earlier horses for courses. I doubt the publishing houses would mainly use Macs if they were not reliable and have a stable OS, unlike PC's. Having used and taught both platforms, I believe the Mac has a better OS. By the by, windows was based on the Mac GUI and still tries to emulate it, but does not really do it as well.

I totally agree that very many of the Publishing houses are still using MACS for designing and pre-press printing. We are supporting more each day. Also the MAC Takeup in education seems to be growing.

I have spoken to many Graphic designers over the years...and still do...and the main reason was the MAC Multi-tasked better...Much of which was the way it utilised the MACS RISC Processor.

Now they are on a very even infrastructure that advantage it got from the cpu seems to have diminished.

That said I still find Snowleopard visually stimulating ...:Eeek:

Would I use a MAC......YES

Are they overpriced.....YES (IMHO)

Microsoft did themselves no favours at all releasing Vista Prematurely.

It should have been shelved in favour of Windows 7. Running 64 bit at home and work with winxp Virtual Machines on both...No problems whatsoever..

Mac or not Mac

Just to put my 2p in i have been a faithful PC/winCE user for nearly 40 years, often losing files, constant re-boots and many a weekend rebuilding/updating.
since, with apprehension, switching to a mac power-book i have had non of those things and not looked back. it also leads me to believe that MS is a 3rd rate company that uses/abuses customers by using them as beta testers asking them to pay for the privilege! might sound as a rant, i just wish i made the switch earlier.

chrimbo time i was gifted by swmbo an i mac
tricky to get started on till i forgot microsoft:thumb:

now i also have a netbook win 7
also a dell lappy running win 7

it is my intention to put the netbook in the camper permanent
and the dell for home use downstaires

the mac being a comp and screen combined puter
makes it less mobile but my prefered computer :thumb:

both my lappys take forever to go online from switch on
the mac is close to immediate :thumb:

everything i do on the mac is a lot easier i can put to sleep with a click
and wake it up with a click :thumb:

now that i have found out how to play u tube clips
dont think its less useful than the lappys

just more efficient and faster

if only i haddent talked myself out of a mac lappy
i wouldnt use the dell much

but i sit on the settee with a lappy and missmanagment has the tv remote
unless football soap or related programmes are on
then i am using a mac up staires

my preferance now is for the mac just wish i had chosen a lappy
but the screen is brilliant on the mac i forgive it not being a lappy

if i was learning puter again straight for a mac i would go:thumb:

sorry for the long tarradiddle but you had to have 2ps wurff:Eeek::thumb:
