Hello to Everyone
Just joined the forum today.
My wife Debra, Archie the cockerpoo and I have decided that we want to start our adventure and get ourselves a Motorhome. We have started looking online and youtube and get some ideas on what MH we want to buy.
We want to start to travel around the UK, all year round and then hopefully across the water to Europe.
We have looked, online, at the Swift 604 and like the look at that it seems that it will suit our needs:
1. Just under 6 metres
2. 4 berth, for occasional guests (grandchildren)
3. 4 seat belts, See above
4. Pull down bed with a good mattress
5. good dining layout
6. Good size bathroom
Has anybody-else got one of these MH and what do they think?
Also does anybody recommend any other make and models that would suit our needs?

Any other advice would be greatly appreciated
Thanks again
John

Welcome! If you plan on using a MH all year round in the UK you may want to look at something which is winterised. In reality this means getting something that probably comes from Germany (eg Hymer) of France (eg Pilote). Downside is they tend to have tiny kitchens. You might want to look at something a bit bigger for full timing, say around 7.5m.

Your best bet would be to actually go and look at a few motorhomes that you like the look of, rather than reading ( or watching videos) about them. Reality can be a lot different from pictures.
You can’t beat spending half an hour in one, having a good look round and imagining yourselves living in it ( and four of you sleeping in it ).
But, good luck with the search, welcome to the forum and have a look at the Burstner range. You might find them better built and better equipped.

Thanks for the advice. We are having a trip to Newbury, pre Christmas Night away on Saturday and plan to stop at a few MH showrooms on the way to get a feel and idea of what type of MH we want.

thanks for the advice. We will take a look at those ones. It will only be the odd day and weekend away during the winter but we need to bear in my mind what you have said ref wintersied and length.

Hi and welcome 😄, we have a 5 berth hymer camp, over cab is kingsize, then the singers area converts into a double, also has a long seat, which extends out to make a comfy bed, we have 4 seat belts, which is great for grandkids and extra guests, yes our end kitchen is compact, but the living space was more of a priority for us, ( we have our van in storage, due to pack of space) it suits our needs, also our budget :X3: , take your time, explore everything, even if you have no intention of buying, enjoy the search.

We love our Pilote Explorateur. Winterised. Twin back bedroom with a double drop down over cab. Separate shower and toilet. We are spending 4 months travelling thru France, Spain and onto Portugal. Love it!

Toady, single beds at the back would of been also an ideal option( haha and a island bed), sadly way out of our price range  enjoy your trip

I have been looking at the 6 metre Chausson range. What do people think about them? There is a dealer local to me in Chichester.

Hello and welcome, we spent a few years researching and hired a couple of times before we bought. gave us a good insight into what would and wouldn't work.
we could have done with a bit of outside access storage in our first a Swift escape 6 berth which we kept for 4 and a bit years, used it all year and never had a problem with regard to insulation.
enjoy your search it is part of the journey.

Welcome. From your description you might have been talking about the Pilote G600l. It’s a very compact and comfortable van. However it’s essentially best suited to 2.
I think It’s important you choose what you want now, not what may happen In the future. We’ve had occasional guests... they’ve slept elsewhere. (Awning or b&b)

Be aware of your license and any restrictions it may unwittingly impose upon you. It seems more and more people are finding out (too late) that the limits on licenses = no where near enough weight allowance for the dream.

Ohh and welcome(y)

After a weekend of looking around some MH garages to see what was on offer. We went to Viscount Leisure near Butlesdon. Spoke to a very helpful staff member called Will. Had a look at Swift 614 and both Debra and I liked it. Ticked all the boxes for us. 4 berth 4 seatbelts U shaped lounge Drop down bed and a good size garage. The price was good as well. So off for a test drive on next Thursday (19th) and see how we get on!
Any other advice would be good and greatly appreciated.
John
