An update, a lot of funsters over the past month or so have been asking how Joy is getting on and wondering why she has not been on the forum, @simsy56 @Fletton and others have started threads enquiring.
As I have said I speak to Joy very regularly and said that she is doing fine and spending time with her granddaughter and daughter, has had very little Internet, but really has enjoyed the summer with her family. She has of course had things crop up which we all do but everything was ok.

Unfortunately things over the last few days have changed that, as some of you will remember Joy had a awful time when Eden was snatched from her mother and this woman was convinced that Eden was her granddaughter and not Joys and would follow them threatening them. Then the woman disappeared for 10months or so and Joy relaxed and spent a lovely summer with her daughter and Eden.

Then this week the woman has reappeared and again tried to get Eden while she was with Joy, she did not get her but Joy & Eden were very upset, the police were called again and unbelievably Joy was told there is nothing that can be done as Eden was not actually taken or harmed, the woman has also been to Edens nursery school and the police called.

As you can imagine this is causing so much upset. I have course only posted this after much discussion with a Joy who along with me felt it wrong to say although she was doing well all is not good now. At the moment Joy is trying to deal with it how she thinks best, but knows that there is much love out there for her, and it really helps knowing that.

Thanks for that @Carol , it must be a nightmare for Joy. Surely there should be a restraining order on this obviously deranged woman, please tell Joy that we are thinking of her and wish her a good outcome to the situation.

I know it will cause more hassle and worry but I would think it is time to get a restraining order in place on this woman especially as the police are aware of the situation,but choose to do nothing
I'm sure someone with more legal knowledge will be along soon.
I'm sure she knows we are thinking of her.

This is a terrible situation. I feel so sorry for Joy and Eden. Although I am a lawyer, this is not within my sphere of competence.

I wonder if the Social Services Department of the local authority might be a good place to start. They have responsibilities in the area of child safety. I am not saying that they can do anything but they may be a good source of information.

As to the Police, it strikes me that this woman is pretty much stalking Joy and Eden.

What these have both said. I'm amazed that the police have not done more?
Perhaps @big map can offer some guidance ?

I think the same as a lot on here. She should tell social services etc and get some kind of order put on the mad women. Please give Joy my love and hope all turns out for the best sooner rather than later. No one should have to put up with crap like that especially where kids are involved.

I will let her know and I along with Joy and everyone else can't make any sence of how the police can allow a child to be at risk.

If the woman has been to the nursery and the Police have been called then it should have been reported to the safeguarding children’s board.

Ask Joy to contact them and make a complaint about the way this has been mishandled by the statutory bodies.

Then, as said earlier, they need to obtain restraining order which would give the Police the power to arrest the woman if she approached or came within a certain distance of the home or school. I realise that there are other incidents that have happened outside these localities but this is a starting point.

I will pm you the details of who Joy (or her daughter) need to contact to start the processes.

Just shout out if they need any further help.

This situation cannot be allowed to continue, and mental health issues are a cause for concern not an excuse to do nothing.

The trouble with a restraining order is that at the end of the day it’s just a piece of paper and doesn’t in itself offer any great protection , especially when you are dealing with someone with mental health issues.

It is possible to get a power of arrest attached to it which is a bit more useful, but doesn’t guarantee anything especially given the state of our police force.

I would suggest Joy speaks to social services if only to get the name of a decent local solicitor who specialises in this sort of thing and does Legal Aid. I would think that the child would automatically be entitled to legal aid and Joy would just act as her litigation friend. I haven’t done any legal aid though for 20 odd years so I could easily be wrong on that.

I hope it can be sorted out. It must be awful

@Carol , please tell Joy I'm thinking of her and her daughter. What a horrible, scary situation.
While I have every sympathy for those with mental health problems, they can never be allowed to impact on a child, especially a child who has no connection whatsoever. This lady is obviously delusional. I agree with @Stretto Boy , this is stalking and legal steps are a starting point. I'm sure if legal costs get involved we can help by crowdfunding if Joy doesn't mind.
