Does anyone have a good route down toBenidorm? We don't want to use toll roads and would like some advice on which Aires to stop over in. We don't necessarily need electric. Thanks.

The junction is immediately after you cross the border and, confusingly, it's signposted as junction 0 not junction 1 - so I missed this turning and followed the signs into Irun as I thought that Irun & Iruna were the same place - which they are not! When you reach Irun, take the N121-A through to Pamplona and onto Zaragoza then onto Valencia and away you go. |Your Sat Nav will sort you out if you select no tolls.

We tried the above france route in April, it's ok until after Bordeaux then they whack you with 2 new toll sections ... our usual toll free route starts out the same round Paris but then pick up the N124 then D2020 and head for Claremont Ferond after that it's the free motorway past Millau to southern France and down the med coast with lots of nice places to stopHere you go . This will get you through France.

Not aware of the two new toll sections. We have always avoided the tolls until we get down near the bottom and pay the last 3 tolls which comes to a total of 8 euros. We have found avoiding these last tolls by going off the A63 is a nightmare. I've done the route you prefer and it was OK but some really big climbs going over the Pyrenees and something I would not recommend in the winter. The N10 route, as recommended in AboutFrance .com is always ice free in the winter. We tried the above france route in April, it's ok until after Bordeaux then they whack you with 2 new toll sections ... our usual toll free route starts out the same round Paris but then pick up the N124 then D2020 and head for Claremont Ferond after that it's the free motorway past Millau to southern France and down the med coast with lots of nice places to stop
