It seems it is not only in Spain that jealous residents are trying to stop motorhomers doing as they please.

The gist is that Gouda has a car park in the city for 30 motorhomes 12 electric points and dump etc. Resideñts are fed up with the place being abused by up to 85 motorhomes in the height of summer. You get the idea!

Agreed, and the local authorities should be clamping and fining anyone breaking the rules
Doing nothing simply encourages and eventually gets all banned.

Sadly everything eventually comes down to cost. If police or other authorities are required to enforce conditions, they must be paid. Then the free site will have to charge. The free use of Motorhomes around Europe where numbers are growing exponentially cannot last, for I doubt that any messages towards good behaviour can ever reach everyone. Perhaps each of us in some way can help discourage unsociable behaviour, but I somehow doubt it. Enjoy it while it lasts!

What a pity that there are a few thoughtless inconsiderate folk who will, in the end, ruin it for the majority. I'm always happy to pay a few Euros where it is necessary to have some management of these sites by the local authority.

Things go in cycles, soon it will very expensive to motorhome on the continent , as it became with a caravan . Road pricing is the goal of the EU , not just the odd toll road , but every kilometer of travel , and its not that far off .

The Parking in Gouda is in between the RED lines for the Motorhome is parked correctly we stayed there 2 years ago, great car park with the local Library adjacent with WIFI and toilets so well worth the 8.00 euros.

I stayed there two years ago too. Lovely aire, with ehu, and free on Sundays. Great cheese soup in the local restaurants too.

when in a foreign country have some repect I can understand the spanish getting upset with motorhomers thinking they can do as they please you can't, I can see it coming in the future a ban on all motorhomes using car parks etc and only able to use campsites.
As for road pricing this I see as the demise of us motorhomers it will become so expensive in the future it wont be worth it.
