We are interested too. Have been doing lots of research and sadly came to conclusion that flying the best option. A long way to drive with the inconvenience of 2 sets of clubs in the way in the PVC. Cheap flight and accommodation, and pay for clubs seems to be way to go.

Green fees are pricey but found a bit more affordable if using late afternoon tee times.

I decided that would need to go to south coast for best chance of good weather in Jan or Feb but that was if booking up in advance. With MH you can move if inclement.

January weather is variable hence the lower prices. The courses look splendid (I don't play so my judgement may not be reliable)

We always have a week golfing in Western Spain in January. Always flown into Faro, thought about taking the van but difficult with family constraints. We’ve found that the cheapest option is hotel with course attached. Green fees for just the golf seem over the top. I did meet a guy from Holland in South West France in Saptember who was on a 2 for 1 tour. He had these books. Might be something similar in Portugal

With the current water shortage problems here in Portugal, golf courses seem to be a real waste of the stuff to me.

I have been told that one golf course uses as much water as several farms put together.

But please... enjoy your holidays.

Understand your concerns but here in the UK we have to collect, store and use our own water. I expect there is the same situation on the continent. I suppose the Algarve generates a massive amount of revenue from holidaying golfers. It is a strange hobby, hitting a little white ball around! The best hole of course is the 19th back in the Club house bar! Looking forward to Spain in January
