Jackery / portable power pack thingys and running a motorhome? (1 Viewer)

I know sweet FA about these things so bear with me.
Im wondering how much of a motorhome and for how long you could run everything on one of these packs? eg. say you had one with a solar charger, how long say could you run the fridge, the truma heater and say a bit of hot water and tv?

Lets put it this way, the 1000w Jackery costs a £1600 ish, and would run the Truma heater and the hot water for about 20 minutes. In summer, a full recharge would take 8 hours, in winter ..... forever. Obviously far longer if you could run the fridge and heaters on gas.

Still think it is a good idea?

See here. In my opinion if your camping they could be useful. In a motorhome you would be better to invest in a lithium battery.

Hi. I bought the one advertised last month on MHF and am really pleased with it

I’ve used it for charging up my motorbike in a lock up garage with no power. I’ll use it in my car or the van if we want to use the remoskas. I have got some work to do on the bike so I’m going to use my mains powered LED work lights in the garage.

I have charged it from the car 12v socket and it seems to charge around 8% for my 1 hour / 50 mile one way commute which I think is not bad

as Nico said ok for small output or large output short time.
good for portability, but anything decent and needed for long term use in a MH then leisure batteries are better idea.

Noooooooooo!, yours and the subsequent posts have clarified for me that they wouldn't be worth the hassle to be honest if I wanted to use it for any real power or length of time.

Funnily enough I've been looking at these to run a cpap machine. The 500w one seems to be able to run a cpap with humidifier and climate tubing but might wait till cyber weekend to see if there's any deals about .

which cpap do you have, you can get 12v adapters for most now you know. Made a real difference to my wifes ones usage
Or are you not talking about using the jackery as the invertor

I've got one, (Bluetti) works great as an extra portable power source, I only have space for one Leisure battery, an LA, my Lithium hasn't arrived yet, another story, a big story...back to Portable Power, we don't have access to mains electricity where our van is parked, so if I'm drilling, hoovering or similar, I use it then too......of course connected to my portable Solar Panel I'm charging an eBike...
Great bit of kit, wouldn't travel without it, even when my Lithium arrives.......

My wife has a Respironics CPAP machine. Via a suitable lead it runs off the leisure battery absolutely fine.
Can't remember what the wattage is but it's not much.

Cheaper to get decent battery or 2 and a solar panel. Run the Truma heating and hot water and fridge off gas. We can be off grid permanently with 2 batteries and solar panel (£800) plus a refillable gas bottle (Gaslow - £200) so fully independent for £1000. Use a 12 volt TV or pay £200 for a small Inverter.

I wouldn't have one in my Motorhome or static (as I think a lithium leisure battery is a better option) BUT I'm sure they come into their own for operating electrical 'stuff' away from a mains supply.

I have a ResMed Airsense 10 with the humidifier and climate tubing. I have found the wattage that the machine uses but nothing for the humidifier and tubing.
I have looked at 12v supply for the machine but I like the idea of having some versatility of where I can use my cpap and also having some portable power but I suppose it all comes down to £££

Fair enough but the OP was asking about it for use for running stuff inside the motorhome.

For home use I have a Bluetti EB70 which uses a safer LiFePO4 battery. I bought it for charging our e-bikes, which are kept in a car barn where there are no power sockets. I have also used it to power my CPAP when we have power cuts (rural life). In the motorhome I have a fitted LiFePO4 leisure battery. I do not see the Bluetti (or Jackery) as an alternative to fitting an Li in the motorhome. If you do want something like a Jackery I would suggest looking for an alternative with LiFePO4 batteries.

I agree . The Jackory will be down to 80% efficiency after around 600 cycles . Not ideal on a product costing so much .
