Saw one of these big old units come past me today, just wondered if anyone has seen or done a conversion on the new model?

They are huge , the 3.0 is the one to go for , I put over 300,000 miles on a pickup in 5 years , never let me down once , ate 2 diffs and that was it , still on the same clutch when I sold it and most of that was pulling a 3.5t trailer too

They are a big van mind , I bought one cheap with a gearbox problem, no 3rd gear , it was a big company so they'd just bought a new one

The guy gave me the keys and left me to it , I was looking through the paperwork when I noticed the date of registration and the mileage

:unsure:rang iveco and gave them the registration , yes that's still under warranty , when would you like to book it in

Er I'll call you back

So I bought it , drove it round to iveco and they put a new gearbox in it :ROFLMAO:

Thats amazing, I saw the 100,000 warranty and thought it was a joke. No way I can go that big due to driveway but the new one looked weirdly nice, imposing.

What I am finding, if its a 3.5 ton vehicle, when the conversion is done, there is no payload, or very little.

They are massive.

Being rwd the floor is high and they drive Ike a truck being on a ladder frame.

The overhang is massive and would make parking and city driving a pain!

That is the problem with Iveco's they're built on a ladder chassis same as a truck so the payload can be woeful , my 3.5t pickup was about 900kg but the 2.6T I could carry on the trailer more than made up for it

But the Vario is a proper truck ...

The Iveco iirc is narrow too narrow for a transverse bed unlike the Seville vans or new transit.

The company I bought it from had it serviced at a local garage so they must've assumed they'd voided the warranty but iveco didn't even ask about servicing , all they were interested in was the current mileage and date of registration .

You'd think somebody would've made a phone call before they sold it though

I have a 2003 LWB daily that was converted from new by it's original owner. Drives well and great turning circle for a 7m vehicle. Still only 70k on the clock.

Iveco was my first choice , basically due to the size. I even found an ex ambulance with air suspension & bonus was it was already changed to van with living accommodation . I'd have bought it but the bloke wanted to do the changeover himself to save a few euros. It was all just too much aggro & he wouldn't budge even when I offered to pay for the gestoria. he did it himself & wanted to do the same on it. Great vans ,although finding a tidy one here is a problem.Actually finding anything tidy here is a problem.

That conversion certainly looks better than the converted ambulance, complete with log burner, son used as a student
