I love a bird with little hands!!

In fact it’s a prerequisite when even starting to talk to one!!

If you do buy one, or god forbid two, could you PLEASE post in advance any camp site you intend to visit so that we can adjust our plans accordingly..
Will be using it to scare of SOG users, those with no filter.

@scotzsue - Sue I bought one recently as I thought it would be a nice winter hobby to learn to play. I too have small hands and there is no way I will ever be able to get the F chord!! I’ve managed the C and the A but that is my limit!! How are you getting on?

I’m thinking of selling and buying a drum pad instead!! Lol

The F chord is easy peasy on a uke - much harder on a guitar ( same shape as a Bb on a uke)

It’s all about building up muscle-memory by practising little and often :)

@Janine is right. I sat for ages when starting out trying to play chords and thinking, "how can you ever get your fingers in position for that let alone move them quickly enough for the next chord. The answer lies in repetition. Think back to when you learned to drive, it seemed impossible to co-ordinate it all but, with time you get the hang of it. You don't have to look down to find the clutch or look at the gear lever any more. I think the best way is to join your local ukulele club. As daunting as it seems, going regularly will soon get you into it. Surrounded by so many others you just join in as best you can and each week you realise you just accomplished something that you couldn't do the week before. Don't give up.

Not had a chance to try yet, went off for our autumn jaunt a couple of soon after getting it and am only just catching up with everything now I am back home. decided not to inflict my attempts on fellow motorhomers  will be having a go soon though. That should scare off the neighbourhood cats.

Thanks folks - still not convinced I will manage. Physically can’t get my first finger to reach the A string when having to arch my hand so much to reach the G string without interfering with the C string!!! I have at least learnt the 4 strings!! Lol

PS: Think I might try a beginners electronic keyboard instead (can’t read music!!) lol

Part of the problem might be that you are turning the instrument upwards to watch your fingers. With experience you can hold it pointing forwards, and then it's not such a contortion to do a bar chord.

Thanks for the suggestion - however no matter how I hold the damn thing I just can’t ensure my finger doesn’t foul another string!

I have the opposite problem.. Fingers are so fat and inflexible I always straddle at least two strings!

Have a look on YouTube at my friend, Ian Emmerson, playing a tiny tangi uke then tell me your fingers are too big :)

(Sorry can’t do a link on my phone but it’s easy to find)

Unlike driving a car, you can drink as much as you like and if you make a mistake you won't kill anyone, maybe have George Formby turning in his grave though :LOL:
