Well, on behalf of dogs might be a more appropriate description!

It was all done with the best intentions ... for one of our local dog charities - Hull Greyhound Rescue. Every year the University throws away the old bedding/duvets/pillows, from the student residences when they put out the stuff for the new intake of students. As I used to work in the Estates Directorate the Cleaning Manager always told me when they were coming so for the last 3/4 years they just plonked them outside the office and I stuck them in my car/camper or whatever and brought them home before eventually taking a camper load to the HGR. This year, though, they've been throwing them in some large skips (they look more like storage containers) so yesterday and today we've been crawling around inside them to retrieve anything half decent, fortunately most of them were in bags but we had to take them out to see if they were usable as some were badly marked/torn etc so not suitable, nonetheless the camper was stuffed yesterday with what we got - it looked like it had been 'invaded' by a load of giant marshmallows!
This morning we took them to the HGR and I had the chance to meet one of the former 'residents', a young dog called Sonny, who had been abused and then attacked by a staffie and nearly died from his injuries, so he is even more timid, but once he got used to us he was happily letting us play with him with his toys. We then went and 'skip dived' again and have loaded up the camper with even more 'marshmallows' and will take them round tomorrow.
If anyone has any bedding etc going spare that they were just going to throw away please take it to one of the dog charity kennels etc (check they want it first!) and especially the Greyhound ones as they really DO need it especially with winter coming up.
Why Greyhounds more than other dogs? They are NOT used to bedding - when 'working' they are just kept on straw so when they first go to the rescue centres they have 'accidents' on their bedding which means the charities go through loads and loads of stuff, much more than a 'normal' dog charity kennels would, so duvets are a godsend to them.
Below is a photo from their website showing one of the greyhounds snuggling in a duvet:
