Came away for a week without my key for fresh water tank. Depending on bottled water for everything. Whats the gizmo to the right of the water fill in this image? Anything to do with water? Thanks.

Do you have access to your fresh water tank in your van - you might be able to fill up through the lid of the tank.

It will be the same when he changes the barrel. Or puts a spare in the glove box 👍🏼👍🏼

Take the 3 screws out holding the fitting to the side of van top up tank?

I'd have to break it open / pick it etc. and then order a newbie from Amazon .
Easy enough with a screwdriver.

I suspect its external in which case you often can't access them at all.

Fill it from inside. There must be a panel in the floor you can lift 👍

Try asking a few others around you that have the same locking cap , there is a fair chance another key will fit they are not high security so probably only a few different . Same lock barrels used on some lockers as well . HTSH

My tank has an external filler point and an internal cap. The tank is under the passenger seats.
They have an external filler but the tank itself is likely to be external and it is often the case that you cannot access this tank from the interior at all - we had a Swift in the past and the only way to get at the fresh water tank was to drop it down from the underside brackets.

Have you ever tried undoing one of these when it’s not been touched for a few years.

Difficult isn’t the word for it 😡😳
I know but I managed it on ours and it shifted eventually. Just throwing ideas around in case it helps.

Now a question, what can be used to stop the red cap becoming difficult to open when I want it to?
