The time has come for me to hang up my hook-up cable and empty my grey tank for the last time.
For medical reasons my missus can't now "do" motorhoming but for the last 10 years or so I've been able to satisfy my wanderlust by taking solo trips each year, usually around 5 weeks on the Continent and as many UK CL/CS nights as I can manage. I have a very understanding wife.
I know it's not a cheap hobby and it's not wise to work out what it all costs but in my case the cost of keeping my camper on the road relative to the number of nights I'm away, it's just not justifiable when other things in life are needed.
My first camper experience was back in 1970, a one-way ticket Dover to Calais, and I've had a camper of one sort or another since then - even when living in South Africa and Rhodesia so I've had a good run.
I have fond memories of many places and thousands of photographs to browse from time to time.
So, the camper has to go and I have to find a replacement time absorbing hobby.
It would be difficult for me to remain in touch with Fun even only as a reader so it's a final post from me and wishing you all many safe miles travelling.
Just watch out for those gassers and don't do everything your sat nav tells you to do.
ps I'll leave Brigitte as my avatar - so much prettier than my old one
