Getting really serious now....

Today a request for a €50 deposit to confirm the booking.

Y E S !

I have just emailed asking if we can phone with a CC for those who would find it a problem sending the euros.

I'm pretty sure our bank, RBS what else, ripped us off when we transferred money to Desert Detours.

Prompt reply from Butterfly - they need payment by bank, cannot accept CC.

Is this a problem for anyone ?

It's only €50, it wouldn't bother me sending a note in the post, but I can get to a bank easily.

Hi Brian

E-mailed our booking form last night, had a reply this morning advising me that they were unable to open my attachment. I have resent it in PDF format, have had no reply as yet.
A €50 deposit is not a problem for us, we still have a few euros from our last trip abroad.::bigsmile: Is it possible or worthwhile sending a deposit collectively, it may save on bank transfer fees.::bigsmile:

Brisey

Edit, have just recieved reply from Butterfly asking for €50 deposit, noticed that the offer is available until 7/12/09

This is my first go at this, I'm trying to KISS and not pressure anyone including myself !

I've just failed trying to use the RBS digital banking. The waste of time system accepts only UK sort/account codes. I've a calculator device, an account authorisation smart card, a customer number, a password and can't send €50 to Italy. I'll bet there was no such problem us giving them £50B.

Hi Brian

SWMBO has just informed me that she transferred some money to the USA last week.
The transaction was carried out by Nationwide in their branch office. ID was required before they would transfer, ie passport or driving license, cost of transaction was £20.
Perhaps the €50 note in an envelope may be the best way.

I'll ask !!

Anything to stop being ripped off.

I've just phoned RBS and they will charge £10.

I've just decided not to push my luck with them, here is the email from earlier this morning:

sorry but we can only accept a bank draft. If you prefer you can make just one deposit for all the members of your party. We ask a deposit of euro 50 each families.
Looking forward to hearing from you
Best regards
Marina

I'll pay the RBS £10 after all they are struggling and need the money.

Just send your sort code & number.

If thats OK with you. Vino to follow. in due course, of course.:thumb:

Or would you prefer us to try direct.

So Bryan, are you going to pay the Euro50 for everyone.
Bill Eaton

No. Just in case legally, all I'm doing is inspiring people to visit Italy and suggesting a good itinerary which I will be using because it has worked in the past.

I would not want to put anyone under any pressure do anything at any particular time, we meet, we have FUN.

I haven't had a reply to my email sent in October to Camping Butterfly. I have just downloaded the form and sent it off to them for the 14th 24th May. Hope these are the right dates as i lose track reading all the posts.
What are you all doing about the deposits? Miserable rain here (but not so bad as the poor souls in the Lakes) so looking forward to some warmth.

Received my booking confirmation also requesting a deposit.

Now to work out how to pay, I will send them an IOU e-mail for euro 50 or I may speak to my bank tomorrow.

Russell "probably dropping in"

JayDee has booked the ferry

That leaves 8 still undecided from the original interested funsters. Still 5 months for them to make their minds up although they may end up in another campsite.

I have received email from them cnfirming they will hold reservation for a short while.

On their website, there is a tab to pay for reservation on credit card - see above.
Perhaps they may not take the Eur 50, but the amount for the whole period.

I will ask the question,

I'm not 100% sure about that route. That's an agency who naturally will want their cut so will it effect the price you finally pay ???????

A tenner they told me.

They did not lie. I've just done the transfer by RBS Economy service and they did charge a tenner. She earned it to with the number of digits in the bank codes.

Sue: the alternative was £27 for express transfer - one day quicker - robbers.

Next: Book Luzern in January.

Got to admit it's poor service not being able to phone in a CC but we'll have to live with it.

While I think about it, if anyone fancies a group meal out one night there is a treat of a place ( assuming it's still there ) just round the corner. An old factory/warehouse turned into a restaurant. Loads of machinery exhibits even a classic Moto Guzzi and a great atmosphere. Food for thought.

Hi all

I e-mailed Marina at Camping Butterfly last night asking if it was ok to send the deposit in the form of cash. I explained about the high cost of a bank transfer and have just received the following reply. I will be sending off a cash deposit using the Post Office Airsecure service this afternoon.

Dear Mr. Matthews,

we thank you for your e-mail, we are sorry for the inconvenience about the bank draft.
Of course it is possible to pay by cash .
Looking forward to hearing from you
