Italy gives residency to Brits even if a no deal Brexit

If true this is a really huge move forward by Italy in their respect and protection of those already resident and committed to a life in Italy, I have heard that Spain are proposing similar, here's hoping that this spreads throughout Europe reducing the high levels of stress experienced by both Brits abroad and Europeans in the UK.
