First year almost done!
Has anyone camped at Monza during the F1 weekend?

Looking for recommendations please, ideally with EHU?

Thanks

Been 3 times. Twice I have camped on sites just outside the track (northside) which is only a 10 minute walk in. I've also stayed in Camping Monza which is on the inside of the track right next to the end of the main straight (you'll see it on Google earth).

Both are adequate though camping outside will definately be cheaper. When I went a few years ago you just turned up and bought a camping ticket though I was advised that to guarantee a spot in the trackside site to be there for Thursday as Friday it gets full (of course this may have changed now and you might be able to buy camping tickets in advance).

If you're into your Formula 1 then being right in the thick of it is (in my opinion) worth the extra expense, it's quite a magical track and steeped in history and definately a memorable experience. There are a limited number of pitches right against the fence facing the track but to have any chance of securing one I think people get there for Monday (again, things may have changed but when I was there in 2008 you just grabbed a space, nothing is allocated).

Any other questions, please ask.

*just found this photo.. Camping Monza 2008, very good memories!

I've done it stayed in the outer parking area. Drove home with the drivers window smashed and only a couple of hundreds quids worth of stuff missing....

Zeltweg or Hockenheim didn't present the same problems. Spa is a better spectator track without the angst.

Welcome to Italy.

Sadly, this is most events in Italy now, Teams, and personnel at a lot events get robbed. Anything not bolted down is 'souvenired' , one of the media teams had £50k of stuff stolen after being followed out of the press car park.

Its a great place, mind, the track is awesome, and steeped in history .

I will agree that Spa is a great track to visit.

Dont get me wrong, Monza is well worth a visit, but experience has taught me that Italy is a place to fly to , rent a car , and get out of. We were there testing bikes a few years ago and three guys in our party had stuff stolen from vans , the locals knew there would be loads of us there and were snooping round every day . We were in a motel next to the track, and had the bikes in the rooms overnight .

If i was to choose , i would be on circuit , not off.

I know this stuff happens everywhere, but Italy it is off the scale

Mate's went to Monza a couple of years back, as they joined the hoard of people heading into the circuit, they noticed a few folk facing the flow of "traffic" apparently they were the pick pockets scanning the crowd, quite a few "pea" men too.

They have their own campsite, a mere £135 per person. :)

Just realised my comment about it being a "mere £135" was a bit unjust as it is the price for 4 nights. So that's about £35 per night which isn't unreasonable.

Seems the best advice Fireblade is to stay on the official Campsite inside the track. That way there will be control over who can enter the camping area ie only those whom are staying there which will clearly minimise chances of a bad experience that others have mentioned above. I hope you're not put off as it really is a great weekend and atmosphere ?
