Just got up to speed on dual carriageway and bang, literally 1 mile from home, just off for 2 weeks around Germany.

Approx 30 mm across and quite deep, so looks like a new screen on my return, shall we have a guess at the price for a le voyageur screen?

We did it the other way, Germany and back then on the M6 not 50 miles from home BANG.

New screen fitted yesterday. £150.

You might want to try to put something in/over it to prevent it spreading otherwise you might not get to Germany! As it's less than 40mm it might be able to be fixed but obviously sooner rather than later.

Same thing happened to us the day before we were going to France. Used "Captain Tolley's Creeping Crack Cure". It's white as you apply it but is translucent when dry. It stopped the crack from spreading and was fine all through a 3-week trip. Got the windscreen replaced when we returned but I have a feeling that the repair would have lasted a lot longer. Would definitely recommend Cptn Tolley.

Picked mine up from storage on 3rd Sept. Foot long crack on drivers side, can't prove it happened in storage but likely. The last replacement was £2500 2 years ago and that's only half the screen.

Wondered about covering it somehow, didn't want to use any sealant etc(not that I have any on me) incase insurance claim it could have been repaired had I not used it? Any refuse to repair/replace.
Would tape on the outside help protect it?

If you intend claiming on insurance ring them now because they could well refuse the claim later otherwise. Their argument would be it could have been repaired if done promptly.

I'm on my 3rd A class screen... £70 excess to replace.. wouldn't want to pay full price ??
Current screen has a chip too?

Mine (Le Voyageur) cost £2500 last year :Eeek:.

If you contact your insurance there is probably also a link for a windscreen repairer, they are mobile and can fix the damage. If it doesn't fix then at least it will be OK till you get back from Holiday.

Insurance have been notified, and happy to wait till my return....4' forecast early this week, so hopefully that won't stress it overnight.

I Would say from past experience that's a replacement windscreen.
