As the arts mistress said, etc. Does anyone have a spare Fiamma F65 type awning handle? This one snapped just now. I could get it repaired, but if it broke that easy, I wouldn't trust any repair. They are not cheap!!

I have a spare you are welcome too. It's from an older model but should still fit.
Bath isn't too far from you. PM me to organise collection.

Looks to me like whatever was on the end was only pressed on.
Push it back on, drill a hole through the lot and put a small but and bolt through the hole.
It was a clean break, and it almost looks like it had a shroud or covering, but I couldn't find anything on the ground. It will not press together, the two parts are of the same diameter. It would probably need an insert and outer cover to hold. Thanks for the idea though

Comparing the old and new ones I have it's clear the earlier version is much more robust.

Happened to me in France a couple of years ago and it was €70 for a new one in a camper shop .
Could easily have fixed it at home what a bu**er .

Ok....it was the ring and slightly different colour which made me think it was two tubes pressed together.
At a push another piece of tube either inside or outside then drill and bolt both ends
I hate throwing things which can be fixed.

I agree, but if I can fix it in the longer-term I will, right now I could do with a working one, and it looks like I've got an answer thanks to Bucket. I had just oiled the noisy gearbox, was just winding it in and out, and it snapped off easily. It's not that cold, so it must be that it's just weak. Luckily it broke in the closed position.

Of interest to probably no-one.

I found the handle grip in the bush by the van. This is the inside of the grip, blurry I know but the hole at the other end is nicely in focus. The circlip inside looks remarkably like a pipe cutter. And that's what it did to the awning winder, cut it like a pipe. The other pic is the handle itself, in front of that is a shimmy of metal from the handle. It took 5 years to cut through though.

And many thanks to Bucket for its replacement, which looks much stronger. Hopefully it will last more than 5 years. I hope the same applies to me!!

Nice to see you got sorted.

Is this yet another example of how old things are somehow more robust than new ones? Glad you are sorted.
