For those that missed my attempted photo before Christmas, this is the same bird, it would have a been even more unusual if had been a Firecrest, but a Goldcrest in our own garden is a first for us

Although I heard on Winterwatch that they are becoming more common in gardens

edit - dead pleased with photo as it was taken through glass, didn't want to scare it off opening anything

newbie from caravan - 5yrs now
Had some of those in our garden on a lavender border next to where the motorhome parks -
about a month to 6 weeks ago we had about a dozen came one afternoon and just went and picked the lavender seeds etc - seemed to love the lavender.
We are in Cheshire but near Derbyshire border about 6 miles from Buxton

You've caught a female bird at the immature stage.

When it gets into its teens it'll looks like this:
