    :)

For those that missed my attempted photo before Christmas, this is the same bird, it would have a been even more unusual if had been a Firecrest, but a Goldcrest in our own garden is a first for us

Although I heard on Winterwatch that they are becoming more common in gardens

edit - dead pleased with photo as it was taken through glass, didn't want to scare it off opening anything

That's nice David, we haven't had any since the hard winter a couple of years ago.

Jen said "I bet he hasn't got a photo cos they never stay still long enough"

    Martin

Ps when I saw the title I thought "oh no he's gone limp again"!

Sorry for the confusion, I did at least post in a nature thread, never really thought about the title, too excited with my photo :)

Had some of those in our garden on a lavender border next to where the motorhome parks -
about a month to 6 weeks ago we had about a dozen came one afternoon and just went and picked the lavender seeds etc - seemed to love the lavender.
We are in Cheshire but near Derbyshire border about 6 miles from Buxton

You've caught a female bird at the immature stage.

When it gets into its teens it'll looks like this:

(Note the heavy eye make up, gaudy plumage and wide open mouth).
