Why will camps here be any safer than ones in France, and you can guarantee the ones here will be jumping on the bandwagon with higher prices.

....err yup

Been predicted since 2016, and some would say even before that.
Simply on the basis that the £/€ ratio would not be in our favour.
And who wants to sit in 2 day queues at the ports.

The sensible money has already invested in UK based campsites, pubs and traditional sea side holiday towns.
Welcome to the party, better late than never.

Didn’t say they’d be safer just closer to home with no isolation. Personally I’d head to Europe mainly because of the uk crowds

Why is there going to be 2 day queues at the port if everyone is staying here ? :unsure::unsure:

It seems people certainly won't want to put themselves in an aluminium tube and breath in the virus. I think flight bookings are spectacularly down. So borrowing dads caravan for a holiday will be an option for many.

Global warming, virus,The smart money is for swimming pools at home

Mind you ... if it helps restore UK seaside towns then I’ve no complaint
Some of these would make more sense ?

Could be interesting for campsites. All those peaple coming from all parts of the country and then being in one place could put a lot of peaple off.

For many years "allegedly". The percentage of "recycled" unfiltered Air being circulated on most flights has been steadily increasing suposedly due to the "saving" in fuel cost?. (not having to heat up Air from outside the aircraft and -50C or something?) Just how true that is I have no idea. Having not flown at all since 2014.

Why is everyone on about going on aircraft we are on a motorhome forum

Why don't you research the information before posting?

In the last week I have been several times on the M25. The usual slow grind around Heathrow seems to have gone. Less people flying?

We’re considering cancelling all plans for the foreseeable future. Campsites in this country won’t be any safer than anywhere else.

Came back on the Normandie BF on Thursday, it was nearly empty. I bought fish and chips in the self service restaurant. Paid with a twenty note the girl on the till licked her fingers then handled the change!! Which I picked up with a napkin.

Let's hope next month's ferry to St Malo is better.

The word “staycation” originated in the USA and Canada and means staying at home and taking day trips during ones vacation. Bearing in mind that most Americans do not have a passport and have never gone abroad for their holidays it is unlikely that they invented a new word to describe what most of them already did. Somewhere along the line the use of the word has been corrupted in the UK, probably by young journalists who didn’t realise that a normal holiday does not have to involve foreign travel.
Rant over.

Many years ago when I collected rents (early 70s) I was warned that cash carries germs. They told me not to lick my fingers and to wash my hands. Bank and Post Office staff all used a little sponge to dampen their fingers rather than lick them. We seen to have forgotten some of the lessons learned many years ago. I welcome the idea of going cashless and preferably contactless.

I think people have very short memories as soon as things show signs of improving they’ll be back booking they’re cheap flights and holidays (particularly the young ones). This will not take two years to resolve! China is already getting back to business as usual.

Maybe we should wear marigold gloves

No different in the Uk to anywhere else. & what happens when/if they ban movement?
So borrowing dads caravan for a holiday will be an option for many.
As above talking of banning /restricting movement/travel.

That was down to stopping smoking. They then found they could 'run' on one ac unit. Since then colds/flu ,etc; from air travel have considerably increased.

Oh I hope so! We have two holiday cottages and could do with a few more bookings.

Nor will staying at home. Unless you totally cut yourself off from the outside world, don’t go shopping, on public transport or to work or the pub or anywhere where there are other people. Or handle money, or touch door handles or eat out etc etc etc.

Personally I won’t be cancelling anything! This is not the bubonic plague!
