My Grandaughter wants to take her dad for her 40th Birthday next year with our help in the Motorhome. I have searched but cant find info but sure someone must know rough costings of crossings campsites for my van at 8.2 meters. Any help or advice greatly appreciated I assume its going to be very very costly and maybe a non starter.

Looks like Manx ferries have a length limit of 6.5mtrs.
Two weeks mid June this year, 6.5mtr motor home, Liverpool to Douglas return for 4 people = £414

TT fortnight crossings around £500 (when I last raced in 2007 a 6.5m motorhome and a box trailer was over £700:eek:) campsites around £20-30 per night, get booking because they sell out fast. If you go earlier than TT fortnight and come back later it's much cheaper.

You have to book direct with the Steampacket if you are over 6.5. If I remember it is £20 per mtr over 6.5 and only Heysham to Douglas crossing. Ring 01624 661661.

You can park in a Ramsey park for £20 ... Per year- but no EHU. A regular 6.7mt van is around £320 return if you stay over 14 days

The steam racket company certainly know how to charge
Might be worth contacting some of the pubs on the circuit to wild in their car park?
I found the pubs very helpful when we went, but not in the MoHo.
It’s a must do if you have any interest in racing or bikes (y)

It's in Mooragh Park, where they hold the sprint. Services are in a block at the far end of the prom - at the end of the park. I know £20 is ridiculous but you simply apply for a permit with a down loaded application to The Ramsey Commissioner. Enclose a copy of your insurance certificate and a £20 cheque and you are sorted. You really don't need to stay there, there's loads of wild camping but I take my little motorbike and use that to get us around for the fortnight, its a good base.

It says you can only stay 3 days in any 7 day period but I bet they're not to strict about it.
Is there a place to empty the toilet?

It seems they employed a lady to enforce it last year. After many complaints by the MoHo's - 90% of who were also Marshalls in and around Ramsey, they found something else for her to do! You empty cassettes at the same water point.

Since Nov 2010 after 25 yrs under canvas.
Yesterday Tynwald (the Government) voted to buy the Steam Packet for £124m. Very controversial! Some say prices might go down, although others say they will go up.

Not sure of your age, but the Classic TT/Manx Grand Prix/Festival of motorcycling in August is a quieter affair.

I spend 2 weeks in the Isle of Man for each event, but if I could only got to one it would be the Classic.

It's still expensive on the ferry, but last time I checked it was cheaper per mile travelling to the Isle of Man during the TT than travelling peak periods from Dover to Calais (I emphasise the 'peak period' bit as I'm guessing most of us here, like me, choose the least expensive travel times & avoid school holidays)

I think you are possibly a bit late to get a decent deal on the TT,but as @Nasher has said if you enquire after the Classic Manx Grand Prix you might be more successful,if I can help re campsites(Peel) or some wilding let me know.

We arrived on the island Tuesday. Crossed from heysham. £325 return 8.5m twin axle.
We did book last October and we're here until September.
If you are across, you may see us at the bungalow during race week .

Being nosey like I am.
Do you have to get permission to park there or is it first come etc.
Fantastic spot there.

I can remember some German pulling out in front of me down below there, pleased I was not

Nice one
Think I might have to join you one of these years.
I’m still trying to persuade SWMBO she needs to go at least once :D

Is there any acces across the back away from the circuit for push bikes?

I'm lucky, my wife enjoys our stay here as much as I do.
Not sure about cycling. There is a road from sulby to the bungalow. Other than that I think it's extreme mountain biking .

I’m fairly sure it’s by the rail crossing at the bungalow

That would be my guess.

Again if weathers good cracking spot.
Bet it gets a bit blowy up there as well

I’m sure once she was over on the island she’d have a ball
