A question for the funsters who frequent Spanish campsites. Today we found ourselves on a Spanish campsite for the first time.

Does look typical of Spanish sites or a one off?

It’s not typical of the Spanish sites that we have used in Winter for the last 12 years or so, might be a summer thing.

Many Spanish campsites are pretty poor, some are diabolical. There are Spanish Aires now opening and generally we prefer these and they are much cheaper.

Is that Campsites in general or this one in particular,?
specifically ones where a neighbour farts in their van and you smell it in yours. I like space and countryside not a posh version of a shanty town

They can all look a bit over shaded in the autumn.

You need all the tree's summer growth to escape the sun in July and August.

Most of that will be removed soon.

But like crowded gravel car parks - yes sometimes.

Especially the older camp ie: tent sites.

I don't think the Spanish mind be crowded and living cheek and jowl with their neighbours. (y)

Older sites often have small pitches just like your pic. Out of season they give you two pitches for the price of one so not too bad.

We saw lots of campsites when we were in Spain and most of them were like prison camps with caravans/motorhomes sometime so close to each other you could shake hands! It looked like hell to us. Give me wild camping and aires etc any day.

Most seem to live in blocks of flats, presumably from choice as theres lots of empty land.
Yes biggest apartment dwellers in western Europe. Came about from work situation years ago. Now they like to live on top of work, easy to go out and eat and at weekend and fiesta's they decant to the house in the countryside.

Some are hectic, others are beautiful. We were enquiring at one a few years ago and the lady said, 'we have one pitch left, number ??, go and have a look if it is suitable'.

We had a walk to the pitch and.....there was a :swear2: tree in the middle of it !!!!!! And I mean the middle!

When I pointed this out to her, she replied, 'Yes I know'

I would say typical of an older site. Small pitches and very crowded.
Don't judge until you have been on a few more.
Marjal south of Alicante is a 1000 pitch site that will look so different.

Yeah, I've stayed there over Easter for about 3 weeks, so didn't really get any long term discounts and acsi didn't apply at easter, worked out about £18 a night, fully serviced pitch with TV point. I could have sub let at least half the pitch, they were all huge, and if you had a Ketterer or the like you just paid for 2 and had them back to back so the sports car could come out of the rear end and you could have all the wicker furniture out!!

Thanks for the lovely photos but they don't really show the pitches.
Hi did not take many photos of our pitch which was 80m2 but found one, we had more than enough room for us and even had room for a hire car, going again next year, 50 yards to the Beach.

There are nice and even lovely sites in Spain.

But alas lots of other North Europeans know them as well.

Best site, but I have never stayed there, but only one I have viewed - La Colina near Albir - it is always and I mean almost always fully booked :(

<Broken link removed>

Next best - and we stay here every time we visit Spain - Los Madrillas

Love this place - friendly place, great management, some huge pitches :D

Stay on the RH side as you go into the site - some of the pitches are large RV friendly.

We love Spain - even the pokey little pitch sites have friendly management or great bars/restaurants.

Pretty well never go anywhere else nowadays. :)

We like Playa Montroig near Tarragona

It beats any French site I have been on.

Even if it didn’t I would still choose it over a French site.

Spanish campsite in summer can often be very lively. I remember the very first time we stopped on one, we used the campsite restaurant at about 9pm and couldn't believe how quiet it was.

But of course just as we were finishing eating the Spanish were getting ready to come out. We got into bed at about 11 o'clock I remember there was a 20 aside football match, kids and adults, going on outside my van at around 1 AM. :D
