The VW isn’t a motorhome it’s a camper van . The other vehicles are coach built motorhomes. I don’t know if the VW should really be there but also don’t know the potential consequences if they had parked in the smaller bays .

Would be interesting to hear what traffic warden would say as like you say its not a motorhome

DVLA and probably local authority won't see difference between the VW campervan and a PVC. C class A class motorhome. All have probably same "motor caravan" classification. So all use same space and those who don't fit through lack of capacity could be vulnerable to a telling off.

They are all campers just a bit smaller they have parked in the correct place.
I agree.
That was my original (deleted) reply but on the ground it says: 'Motorhomes only' so I guess it comes down to semantics as to whether, and by whom the VW is considered to be a motorhome, a campervan or a car. I guess that decision would be the LA's or the parking warden's rather than an indignant Funster's.
Either way, if the VW was mine I'd park the same as the VW in the photo rather than risk a fine for parking in a car parking bay.

https://www.cravendc.gov.uk/parking/parking-in-ingleton/ is the local council information.

I think this was a council that said fairly recently that too many vans were stopping so they clarified that you cant stay overnight in any other spaces but you would have to look at the signs in the car park to see how much the penalty charges are.

They have parked up correctly in the proper spaces.
You should have got there earlier instead of complaining, they are just a tad smaller than you but correctly parked.

I'm not complaining I was asking is it acceptable. I'm parked on local pub for free. Wanted to see what the functors points of view was

Yes perfectly acceptable.

Campers come in all shapes and sizes, is the objection to their size?
Also what if it was say a converted ambulance?

Is there still an objection?

Were there smaller spaces that were marked out for smaller motorhomes? Or were you expecting the small motorhome /campervan to park up in a car space?

The point I would make as other have said is yes it is acceptable but who lined out the bays! They would not look out of place in the hinterland of the Southern States of USA rather than Ingleton!!

The other spaces were standard sizes but it was free parking 6pm till 9am.
But you had to fit in parking bays

Of course not just acceptable but entirely correct. Are camper owners not welcome on this ‘motorhome‘ forum?
Everyone is welcome 👍🏻. I did wonder about the smaller camping vehicles using the other spaces but then worried they would be fined for not being in the motorhome bays . I think the OP was suggesting maybe some flexibility with the parking situation. It makes sense for the smaller camper vans to use the smaller spaces if possible . I am very jealous of the PVC conversations and the micro campers are really cool , much more accessible for parking etc than my 7.5m motorhome . Just be nice to leave the bigger spaces open if the other slots could be used 👍🏻👍🏻

It is a not dissimilar gripe to that about small vans on big pitches on campsites where they've paid for a pitch so unless one went down the 'pay by size' route.....

Most sites it up to the owner of site to say where you go.

The camper owner was probably worried about getting a ticket if they parked in the normal bays.

I'd have parked my self build boxer van in the MH bays too.

It's my understanding that all campers, MHs etc must be in the appropriate overnight bays and the sign maker just says MH rather than listing every type of home on wheels.

They all do the same job!
Yes they do, point is should a small van take up a big space if there are other options. A big van can only go where its large enough so the small van has stopped someone else stopping overnight
