Rather large 04 plate Burstner parked near to our car in the Waitrose town centre car park in Christchurch on Saturday. We returned a couple of hours later to find it dumping its grey waste tank :-(. Doesn't seem right to us, but there again we are new to this game.

Funster stickers are free.
Take a look at this old thread and it tells you how to get one.

Saw a mobile dog groomer being interviewed on TV whist washing a dog, the washing water and soap just drained out of the bottom of the van onto the road😱

How should we collect the grey water when washing the car on the drive?
I get the point you're making but the grey from a MH is likely to have food etc particles in it and be a lot more unhygienic than just water from washing a car.

Not acceptable unless straight down a grid in the carpark well away from the shop.
AND you have checked that the grid drains to the sewer and not to the local stream where there are little fishies

Can’t see all the fuss over any of it really, the myth of carrots and peas killing moterbikers and the world will end because of some soap in the water, it’s all rubbish in my opinion. I get the part about not simply letting it empty across
an area where people would step into it etc, but other than that, let it go.

Ever noticed how the very same water is drained from narrow boats into canals and I bet there’s not Narrowboatfun site running it down. Don’t hurt the fishies, ducks, moorehens etc.

Simple answer is that it is not acceptable to discharge any waste water in a car park. If it is rubbish it should not be chucked about especially when it stinks, as it normally does. Full stop.

BUT I have more than once forgotten to close my grey waste and have managed to leave a trail on the road or on car parks, and even once on an Aire. :( So people who live in glass houses ......................................................

I’m in a good mood today, benefit of doubt here

Maybe he left a site and dumped, then forgot to close the valve, in car park, cup of coffee washes up the cups and let’s a bowl full go down drain , thinking it’s going into grey tank 👍

A knock on his door and he may have been mortified and very grateful to be told 🤔👍

Yes I found that out recently ... we've been watching the Vlogs of 'Narrowboat Silver Fox' aka 'Foxes Afloat' and I'd been wondering what happened to their grey water and assume it went into a holding tank and was pumped out so was surprised when I learned it was pumped straight out of the side into the canal! One other thing that is a bit of a concern for me too is the use of these 'composting toilets' (separating toilets to be more precise) which means people can last for a long time as they can bag up the solid waste and store it until they get to a proper waste dump, but they still have to tip the wee somewhere as obviously they can't store that, which to me just doesn't seem right. Compared to MHers who just let some grey go into the drains (not into the river ones) the narrowboaters are less eco-friendly.

I met The Foxes once and was quite literally taken aback by just how rude one of them was. The other one and the dog were lovely, but I unsubscribed from their YouTube channel and follow someone more humble and down to earth.

Think the Foxes Afloat have gotten a little too complacent about their channel. Just my experience mind.

I was away for the first time a few weeks ago and stayed at a couple of sites that didn't have drive-over drains for the grey waste and ended up with a full tank on the way home. It was raining so I pulled over into a lay-by to empty the tank. I will be taking a bucket next time we go away :X3:

Do you know for sure it was grey waste? I’ve had to dump the contents of my plumbing and boiler when I sprung a leak? No doubt if someone saw me they would jump to the same conclusion.

If one dumps grey waste into a run-off drain it is difficult to know whether it drains into a water course or not, although if it drains a main road with lots of diesel/oil drippings/tyre residue on the road it will not be going into a water course, hopefully.

Colin is the one I assume you thought of as rude, he has ADHD and is a high functioning autistic so sometimes can be a bit full on which he totally acknowledges as he finds it difficult to deal with strangers, he comes across as very confident but in many ways is quite shy and that tends to make him overcompensate to hide it and can come across as rude. He has done some very interesting vlogs about his mental issues, not shoving it down your throat, but tries to be very honest about how it affects him (and Shaun), how he deals with it generally and especially with the extreme struggles he continues to have and how devastating at times they can be. To see how he is on the vlogs and how relaxed he comes across most of the time you have to admire his commitment to doing them and the effort he has to put into making them.

He talks about his, and others, mental illness and tries to educate people about it in a non-judgemental way; by doing so I've no doubt he has helped a lot of people with mental issues feel less like 'outsiders' and also for others to see the person rather than the illness.

We usually watch 2 or 3 of their vlogs late afternoon every day (we started at the beginning) and have only got to #88 so far (missed out a few of the purely cruising ones) so another 100 to go at the moment to bring us up to date. We find them relaxing and enjoyable and at time hilarious ... having watched literally hours and hours of their vlogs they really are a nice genuine couple.

Not acceptable, you should have taken a photo and posted here. I hope they weren't funsters.
I figured that that sort of identification - or even the full number plate - might fall foul of privacy rules / GDPR / some other form of political correctness on a public forum. Hopefully if they are on here, they will be sufficiently embarrassed anyway.

Actually that was one of the tips the we picked up hiring before buying. I asked the hire company the dumb question of how to empty the waste tank, and they told me that they supplied a bucket. I'll let you guess one of the first things that we put into the garage when we collected our own MH :-)
